Multi-layered Animated Cursors

Harder to do than so far...
Just started to work on this level, I've made two files for the Delta45 - Neon-Orange2 theme.

The ANI-files include the theme's 4 layers 96x96, 64x64, 48x48 and 32x32. ready for the higher DPI just as mentioned in the Delta45 theme.

Previews:

orange2-busy-preview-96px.gif orange2-busy-preview-64px.gif orange2-busy-preview-48px.gif orange2-busy-preview-32px.gif

orange2-working-preview-96px.gif orange2-working-preview-64px.gif orange2-working-preview-48px.gif orange2-working-preview-32px.gif

That's 808kb per file, biggest cursor size I've made... so details matter. :D
Both files included in zip. Manual installation required.

Cheers!

Hopachi,
Thanks for all the great work you've done on Cursors. I have a question is there a chance you can make some of the cursors larger in size. I personally love the AERO RED cursor just wish it was maybe 50 % larger. The current size gets lost for me when I swing it across 4 different monitors... I cant use the aero animated pointer because when I swing it across from one laptop to another laptops screens the circling balls freeze up. My problem on that is that one laptops runs WIN 8.1 and the other is WIN 7. SO if there is a way to enlarge the size of a Red Aero Cursor , Id love it.

Thanks...

WOOOO NELLIE,......lol

I tried the steps 5 - 7 and No way , wow did that mess up my other work programs,,,, SO the DPI at a higher setting is a no go..

The base windows cursor program does have a larger pointer but its only in white and gets lost over a few monitors.

Any way you can create one of the AERO RED so its larger ? Or maybe I missed one that was larger in the 9 pages of this link. I love the animated one but when it switches across from one laptop to the 2nd laptop which is on Win 7 the animation freezes , so a animated one is a no go.

Let me know what if any options are there.

Again thanks for the rapid reply.

John
Hello Sturgess,

Welcome to EightForums.

Aero Red?
Is it this one, right?
View attachment 32190

Are you using higher DPI?
http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/28310-dpi-scaling-size-change-displays-windows-8-1-a.html
(steps 5 to 7)

That one isn't ready for higher dpi yet but it's one of my favorites too.

I'll see what I can do for that. :)

Ok sorry about the DPI settings: it's meant to increase size globally not just the pointers. This means you are using a larger pointer on normal DPI.
Hopefully you went back to standard DPI.

No, the aero red in larger size wasn't posted so far.

I'm gonna make a red version having the base cursor sizes (32x32 and 48x48 but there are even bigger ones available, depending which one you use*).

There is standard (what we have here posted), large and extra large. The large and extra large need to be done too. However this will take some time to complete.

I'll have them posted in this thread when finished.

Aero-Red (Remastered)

It's done. Aero-Red (Remastered).

All the standard Win7 Aero cursor specs are now now included in the Red version: normal size, large and extra large; all three containing 32x32 and 48x48 sizes. Official specs.

Preview size used on 96dpi (100%):
aero-red-preview-32.png

Preview size used on 144dpi (150%):

King-sized XL pointer version... never used that before, looks big on casual monitors. :D

Usage:
There are three folders for normal, large and extra-large: each folder has its 'install.inf' that will install the respective pointer scheme on right click -> install. Select the needed theme from the list (first time there's a popup about the theme name: click yes to (re)save the theme).

To get started, get the zip attachment below.
Extract and install.

Cheers!

Hey @Hopachi,

Might sound  but I've been really busy( personal stuff) and I just don't have the time to play around with your cursors. I just changed my Windows theme to my "second" fave color, which is dark violet and well, the yellow cursor pack I recolored based on your cursor pack doesn't fit my system anymore.
Could you make a violet( #a405ff ) and/or dark violet( #5637af) version of your Multi-layered Animated Cursors( if you can spare some time)? *bows*

T___T Don't say no, just lie to me, if you can't spare any minutes/hours.

Hello Gennin,

Welcome back.
Well it's been a while since the last posts here on this particular thread, I've been also really busy lately.
I'll see what I can do.

I make all pointers in the same color for the same theme.

prev.png
For any details like yours here above, I'll leave it to you. ;)

Did you noticed? We aren't many who make multi-layered pointers for Windows out there.

You are talking about the Delta version... and yes it has a couple of layers too many. :)
At least if we could batch-convert entire cursor files, export and re-color layers with a few clicks, that would speed up the workload a lot.

As you can see, since novermber 25 there weren't any cursors added. I didn't made any new versions in the last months. If i'll try to make another color version that would possibly be made in one of the following weekends.

Nice requested colors by the way. Purple, i mean violet, will be added to the list, in time.
I'm afraid you'll have to bare with me for now and use some existing colors or other cursors.

But will it be easy to always spot a Violet pointer on a violet colored theme?
My cursors gave me the headaches when the background was in the same color as the pointer so now I mostly use cursors of inverted color as the theme/background use. *Of course this is just a hint and should not be regarded as an excuse for the current situation of missing colors. :zip:

Just a preview for #a405ff:
prev-violet1.png

Have a good day.

Cheers
Hopachi

Hey Hopachi,

Yesh, I noticed that violet/purple( gush, there's an problem of naming those colors- we definitely need a woman here!) cursors might be a problem for my newest theme and that's why i decided to make my new theme multi-colored( dark as a base for explorer/windows, purple for accents and Modern U.I and finally white for inactive windows). Purple will look gorgeous. I finally found a way to change the context menu colors without 3rd party software. *_*

Yep, I agree. I noticed that there aren't many people willing to do that kind of stuff. Myself, I started to play around with Windows 8.1 because I've been sick with people commenting/searching/looking for Windows 8.1 customization software/procedures.
I just hope our work isn't nonsensical.- Microsoft will release their new Windows in late Fall instead of 2015, April. If rumors are true, it will be a bit different- again. >.<

Anyways, should you need some help in future, I like the seemly "boring" procedure of recoloring cursors.
I'm already thinking 'bout some changes which could help me do it half-automatically using bots( I guess you know what a bot is, so I won't go into any details.)

Just pm me, if you need some recoloring done. I think I'll be free in about a week/two from now.

Luv'ya! Love that preview. *___* But, I agree. Those icons( cursors) could be a bit/bit/bit lighter.

See ya, Hopachi! ^ ^

On subject of cursors. I used to have a cursor (ever since XP, I think) that changed colors to negative of the color it was positioned on. It was really nice and large. Using largest one windows has but with 2 screens it is sometimes difficult to find it and leaving "tails" is not an option.

Hey Gennin,

Thanks for the tips and tricks. :D

You're right, the color #a405ff looks a bit dark for the eye, compared to other colors, we could increase a bit of a the contrast, change the tint slightly but we're already almost at a max output. That's just how it looks compared to the other releases which were pretty light colors.

We could get it more in the Magenta range but we don't have a lot of options besides this but to make it lighter (add white).
The final choice is yours, since you came up with the violet idea.

Hi CountMike,

I remember that one:

It's still available. :thumb:

Now to think of it, we could make our own inverted versions with Real World Cursor Editor I mentioned in one of the posts (besides possibility to add multiple layers for static and animated versions). I found a nice short YouTube video showing how to make inverted color pointers: How to Make an Inverted (Negative) Cursor - YouTube

:)

Cheers
