Help with ATI Radeon HD 5470 driver

Hi everybody!

Anyone got any idea on how i can get the correct driver for Windows 8 PRO 64 bit ATI Radeon HD 5470 driver?

I have tried:

1) Install another notebook archive model from same manufacterer(Sony Vaio) and same video card model (ATI Radeon HD 5470) turning on Windows 7 compatibility - not worked!

2) Tried already: "I have a Vaio VPCEA390X with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 board. You must manually install this driver provided by Sony by using the device manager (x32 and x64):

ATI_Mobility_Radeon_HD_5470_Windows8_drivers.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download - Andre Pinto
I am running it with no problems at all!" - Not worked

3) AMD_Catalyst_12.11_Beta11 - Not worked!

4) Contacted Sony (on website it said won´t support drivers and software for Windows 8) - waiting!

5) There isn´t any Video driver for ATI HD 5470(it´s the only driver file missing for my VPCEA43FB model) from the esupport driver website - not worked!

6) Went to many websites - didn´t find anything!

My actual card driver is Windows Update installed driver: ATI HD Radeon 5000 series WDDM v1.2 (Doesn´t work videos nor high quality pics or games...).

I would appreciate any help!

Ty!

Yes, Sony has really messed up there, I was very disappointed to see that they won't provide Windows 8 drivers for old models. Not buying anything from them again.

You can try what I did, it was the only way for me.

Only run it as an administrator, I think that after you run it the first time and your computer restarts, you have to run it again. I don't remember the procedure in details but it should be something like that cause it first needs to switch your PC into test mode and then install the drivers.

Hello Wael90,

it worked! Ati Radeon HD 5470 is fully funcional on my Windows 8 64 bit!

Thanks a lot!

I have ran the Leshcat's file as Administrator and then instaled twice, cause the first time it restarts to update de system...the test mode mark on my desktop I remove with the prompt command: adbedit /set testsigning off

Thanks to all and have fun with new Windows 8!

Sorry, prompt command to remove test trademark on your desktop is: bcdedit /set testsigning off

See ya!

Don't remove the Test Mode trademark as the drivers will crash and you will have to reinstall them again using the same procedure. It's kind of stupid, I know, but we have Sony and ATi to blame for this.

Beta driver and BIOS do's and do not's sought

I'm an inch above beginner, so please indulge me. I know that CCC 13.1 is available and doing it the way Driver Cleaner Pro recommends is a nuisance, but is DCP right? Am I over-cautious for only trusting WHQL drivers? I flashed my motherboard BIOS to the latest WHQL revision, but I'm way too scared to flash an EPROM to a beta. What are your thoughts, suggestions? Thank you.

Custom built PC:
Windows 8 Pro 64 bit OS
Asus Crosshair IV Formula Megatrends BIOS version 2002 (everything above that is beta)
Chipset - I hope - is 890FX (Belarc Advisor won't list)
16GB OCZ Reaper DDR 3 1333 system RAM
Dual Radeon HD 7970 GPU's in Crossfire, CCC 12.1
Sound Blaster Recon3D Fatal1ty Champion sound card
LG HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH10LS30 ATA Device [Optical drive] Blu-ray rewriter
PC Power & Cooling 950W PSU
