Have been watching these threads carefully.

Installed all these updates on Tuesday, did the optional update separately after the first batch. All were successful although there seemed to be a lot of disk activity later on Tuesday, looked to be a lot of re-indexing going on but never had any other strange behavior and system has been running fine.

Have contemplated the un-install of the optional one or even all Tuesday Updates but since PC is running perfectly I am going to hold off and wait & see. I have Restore Point, Custom Refresh Image as well as a Macrium Image done before the updates so I think I am prepared for just about anything or at least I hope so.

Can't believe MS has done this again. I think some folks, especially those that don't have back-up options, are in for a OS reinstall or factory reset.

I still have mine. All mine succeeded. I must be one lucky dude! :p

My netbook is also fine.

My laptop and desktop were fine too. No failed updates and no issues. They each had 31 updates listed.

The power problem still persisting , HP has arranged a onsite repair thinking of hardware issue

There are some changes I have noted since the update - The down taskbar is no more coming while when metro apps are opened & the Minimize option in the top panel near 'X' mark is not there - has it been removed - just a doubt? - it was way convenient before...:(

The taskbar not auto hiding has been noted. Look here for a possible solution, http://www.eightforums.com/general-...creen-after-windows-updates-5.html#post416141. The missing minimize button is a new one. I didn't have that issue.

I just undid my uninstall on my desktop PC by going back to the restore point I created before uninstalling it. I have no issues at all, at least non that I know of. I'm thinking with KB2975719 installed I may be able to give better support to questions etc. Knock on wood. ;)

It would be interesting to find a pattern as to which configurations are affected, it just doesn't make sense that it is random.

The "Show Windows Store Apps on Taskbar" option was Unchecked, I honestly don't know how did that happen, anyway I've not messed up with those properties at all till now.
I didn't know whether the Update caused change in Settings and all, anyway

I checked it & everything is back to normal. Thanks guys.. :)

:dinesh:

Still Power issue persisting, I'm currently using lap with AC plugged in alone with no battery. :(

Does anyone really know what is going on? This is very frustrating - not knowing if you have a problem, and if you do, not knowing exactly what to do. They need to be forthcoming with a detailed explanation of this fiasco soon!

Have you seen these threads on Microsoft Community? Lots of good info and explanations there. Obviously not direct from MS but you could be holding your breath a long time until you get that.

I have them all applied, with no issues that I know of, but now I'm wondering what to do myself. This really is a mess. Is it just me or does this seem to be happening a lot more than it did in the past? I don't remember near so many issues with Windows update when I was running windows 7.

My laptop and desktop are about as different hardware wise as you'll find. They both have AMD processors but one is a Phenom and the other an A-10 APU. Nvidia chip-set versus AMD chipset. They both have Crucial SSD's and are both running 8.1 Pro with Media Center x64. Clean installs with TechNet ISO. Windows Defender, Office 2013, no Start Menu utility.

I had start 8 installed before updating, I see no issues with it. I could uninstall and reinstall to check, but I wont :p

Start8 is pretty good since it goes to great lengths to add additional functionality of its own rather than messing with system components. There is another alternative that restores as much of Aero Glass functionality that's still left as possible and that does hook into the system at a low level, but if you're running that then you probably need to expect some difficulties.

In any case I don't think it'll make any difference, during the KB2919355 fiasco I tried (among many other things) disabling all third-party drivers, add-ons, startup options, and everything else, still got the same result, "We couldn't complete the update".

The thread is getting a little long to have a quick read again but, it seems there may be three issues here.
!. BSODs
2. All updates are installed, without problems
and, 3. My issue, which seems to be rare. I have, for the test, a very normal Windows 8.1, with little unorthodox customisation, no off beat third party programs installed. My attempts (several) result in a total failure to install any of the August updates.
Is it possible that, through some mysterious MS way, some of us are protected from even applying this update.

Well, my own view. I was in no hurry to install the update, having read how little it could offer. I think, by the time I tried to download and install, the vulnerabilities had been discovered, and the download had been rendered inoperative.
