I had a slight problem with the new version for FF in Windows 8. I normally uninstall the old version before installing the new version. When I uninstalled it the Flash item in Control Panel was also uninstalled. When I installed the new version the Flash item in Control Panel is still missing. I installed an older version and it was back. I then installed the new version over the old and Flash is back in Control Panel. I did not have this problem in Windows 7.

What about Flash for IE10 in Windows 8. I believe MS is handling it and flash gets updated through Windows Update. I wonder whats going on with that. I normally use FireFox and I update that myself.

Well I'm trying to roll with this whole IE integration thing but there seems to be so many problems with it. I tried to install the new flash after it wouldn't let me use it on the metro IE app- didn't let me. Then I tried uninstalling flash and then installing the new one- didn't work. Now I'm stuck with no flash player! Thanks Microsoft!

Hello Danr,

Flash Player is already included in IE10 in Windows 8, and is updated through Windows Update now.

Well then could you kindly tell me why I get this error message?
This content requires a newer version of the Flash Player. Please download and install the latest version of Flash Player from the Windows Update site before continuing.

If you are using the Metro style browser, please confirm you have allowed updates to the Compatibility View list as follows:
  1. Open IE on the Desktop
  2. From the Tools menu, click Compatibility View settings
  3. Check Download updated compatibility lists from Microsoft
If you don't see the Tools menu, press and hold on the title bar, this will show the context menu, check the Menu bar.

I'm trying to help you if you will be patient, but there's really nothing to help with since you have the latest version of Flash Player in IE10 already installed. If and when there is a new version of Flash Player available, it will show up in Windows Update.

The error is just telling you the proper method that you needed to use instead to update.

If you open the Control Panel (icons view) and click on the Flash Player (32-bit) icon, you will be able to see what version you have in the Advanced tab, and be able to manually check for updates other than through Windows Update.

Nah, that's fail, shows only for full versions, not beta, so newest 11.4xxxxx, and i have 11.5xxxxx :D

They have enough problems with the released versions. Don't need no stinking beta. :p Besides for IE10 in Windows 8 you can only get the versions that MS approves through Windows Update.
