Latest Version of Adobe Flash Player

I know I read that MS didn't want it to work in the Metro IE for security reasons, but it appears to work in mine. Maybe they changed their mind.

Just went to youtube in the Metro IE and the video played...

I'm using the latest 11.2 RC1 from adobe labs BTW.

Edit:

Appears some videos work, some don't.

Guess they didn't get the implementation (of not having it work on purpose) down exactly right.

Can also join the google html 5 beta. It might help in some cases, at least for youtbe vids.

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Yeah... after my last post I realized it is hit and miss. I found a few other things in Metro IE that need some work as well, so I will give it another look after the next update.

Flash Player 11.3 Beta 1 released.

Beta 1
11.3.300.214

information   Information
"This beta release provides access to the Flash Player 11.3 runtime for Windows, Mac OS and Linux desktop environments. The key features and benefits of Flash Player 11.3 are:

Full screen keyboard input
— This feature enables support for all keyboard keys available to an embedded SWF running inside of a page without full screen mode( except for ‘Esc’). It allows developers to determine if the app is in full screen, whether full keyboard input is allowed, and whether the app is able to request full screen (determined by the embed tag parameter).

Low latency audio support for streaming audio through NetStream
— This feature aims to reduce latency for high quality streaming audio playback. It addresses a very special use case of cloud gaming, where the game is rendered at a server and audio and video are streamed to the client.

Protected Mode for Firefox
— Flash Player Protected Mode is a new security enhancement designed to limit the impact of attacks launched from malicious SWF files against Adobe Flash Player when running in Firefox 4.0+ on Windows Vista and higher. This feature is comparable to the Flash Player Protected Mode in Google Chrome browser, Protected Mode in Adobe Reader, and Office 2010 Protected View.

Flash Player background updates
(Mac) — New versions of the runtimes can now be delivered more effectively to the end user with this enhanced updating mechanism (Background update is only available in the release versions of Flash Player).

Low latency audio support
(Sound API) — This enhancement reduces the latency for Sound.play method and changes to volume and pan on SoundTransform. The latency of SAMPLE_DATA event should also be reduced considerably.

Texture Streaming for Stage3D
— Provides an ability to upload coarser, lower quality textures on the GPU first and then progressively improve them as more data becomes available."

Adobe Flash Player 11.3 Beta

New Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.257 WHQL released. See first post for more details. :)

Guessing it is, because it appears it's only an update for Firefox/Opera (plugin based browsers).

Anyone know if Adobe fixed the Flash bug which causes Firefox to lose the focus on many pages containing Flash content? I've had it disabled for the past week and may just dump it for good. Most sites work fine without Flash, and I can always load the few that don't in Chrome.

To answer my own question, no, it's not fixed.

And it's still not fixed.

Hi everyone

Afraid so far as of Jul 28 2012 you cannot get Flash Player to work in Windows 2012 server -- if you attempt to play video from the browser you will get the Audio but won't see anything in the video apart from a grey screen with no video content.

Doesn't matter what you do to the security level of the browser or even with firewalls totally off -- it still DOESN'T work even after the latest batch of Updates as well

It might not be important on a server -- but this IS the release Candidate (Build 8400 W2012 Server Release Candidate datacentre so I would have thought that IE10 if it is still to compete with other browsers needs to get this fixed -- more and more sites have some form of video content - and if you can't play these then it reduces the usefulness of a lot of your web searches.

Note just to re-iterate - this problem is related to IE10 in Windows 2012 Server Release Candidate.

Cheers
