It does not show up in Windows Explorer, or on my taskbar....I have run this command:
NoteIf you do not see step 4 after a few moments, then you can also copy and paste the file path below in the address bar of explorer or Run (+R) dialog, and press Enter to open it.

    %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\SkyDrive\SkyDrive.exe

    Attachment 26793

Trying to edit previous post and and add pic.....have no idea why it is not working...possibly mental challenge on my part....lol

Funny because here it is in taskbar advance properties...I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times...and at one point it did show up in Windows Explorer, however the Taskbar icon....reported with a small graphic pop-up...Skydrive is updating....but then it just disappeared....?

    Hello Gahbmwm,

From your screenshot, it shows that you are not signed in to SkyDrive. Once you sign in to SkyDrive, you should see it.
See if you may see the SkyDrive taskbar icon if you set to Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar using step 5 in Option One below.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Shawn,

First off thanks for merging 'the mess that I created with my posts'.....I have signed into Skydrive (actually I was already signed in), so to experiment I signed out of my Microsoft account then signed back in, however, Skydrive is still no where to found in Win Explorer and when electing 'show all icons in taskbar Skydrive icon is not present.

    Thanks

Signing in and out of your Microsoft account for Windows 8 is not the same as signing in to the SkyDrive Desktop app.

You'll need to run the %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\SkyDrive\SkyDrive.exe file, then sign in to SkyDrive when it shows like in step 4 and 5.

You might also want to set the SkyDrive Desktop app run at startup as well if not already so you wouldn't need to manually start it.

    Hi Shawn,

Thank you, however I still do not have a 'active Skydrive taskbar icon' to be able to implement various settings:
    Kindly please see attached screenshot:
P.S. Attachments are not showing up after uploading?

Check the Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar box, and click on OK to see it and always have it there.

You uploaded your image, but just forgot to attach it afterwards.

    Hi Shawn...lol

Thanks once again....here are two screenshots properly uploaded....
First shows that I'm signed into Skydrive, however if you view my bottom right portion of my taskbar---->After checking 'Always show all icons'....the Skydrive cloud is not showing.
Second ss shows my explorer where the 'Skydrive folder' is not showing under Favorites...

I have run this command a bunch of times:

    %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\SkyDrive\SkyDrive.exe

Also see this ss where it shows the inactive Skydrive cloud taskbar icon as 'not signed in'....but I am signed in to Skydrive...? lol

The first screenshot is for your SkyDrive app from the Store. It's not the same as the SkyDrive Desktop app.

Do you have Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 installed? I'm assuming Windows 8.

You can press the + Pause/Break keys to open the System window to see.

You might see if reinstalling the SkyDrive Desktop app may help.

    Hi Shawn,

I have Win 8 Pro installed and (again-lol, thanks) two ss. First is Skydrive from www.skydrive.com
Second is the Skydrive app from store. I will attempt to uninstall the Skydrive app for Windows (but I have attempted this numerous times.)

Also I now realize that Skydrive is integrated (deeply) with the Win 8.1 Preview and this is where it shows up in Win Explorer....this is where I was confused...

Thanks again and btw, fantastic job on your Tutorials! That takes a lot of time on your part, and I now see why there is a average 3500-4000 members/guests that frequent your great site!!

Yeah, when you upgrade to 8.1 later, there really is no need for the SkyDrive Desktop app anymore since SkyDrive is fully integrated in 8.1 now.
