Sleep password protection won't turn off!

I checked again. All set to No in both places.
Should I give up at this point? It is an annoyance but not critical.

I must admit that I'm not sure why it's still requiring a password on wakeup when everything is set to not require one.

Are you sure this is from wakeup, and not from something else?

When left unattended for 10 minutes or when I select Sleep from the Power option. I am assuming that is sleep.
Thanks for trying though!

Shawn, I think he may have a 3rd party app involved in his Power Settings, cos his Power Menu did not look standard. A lot of laptops and some Home PCs have their own OEM power controllers, I worked on a Toshiba laptop that had NO access to that area at all, I had to use their Program to set that stuff. You would have to effect changes in that app to get them to apply to the Windows settings. Is there such an app on his PC? There should be a Program Menu item (If he uses Start 8 or Classic Shell) named for his OEM, like HP or Toshiba. and the programs should be in there. Otherwise, there will be a special area for it in his Control Panel.

I don't know what he's got, so I can't go any further.

I agree with you Jon. There's got to be some sort of OEM or 3rd party power management program involved.

This is his Power Menu:

This is Mine:

As you can see, Windows 8 does not have that extra "System Settings" but you can see the advanced power options link right there. No, Oops, you have to click on "Change Plan Settings" and this comes up:

And the "Advanced Settings" link is in that area.

Wait - Is he using 8.1? 8.1 may look like his, I havent checked.

Jon,

If you click on one of the Choose...... links on the left side of "Power Options", you'll see the same screen as the OP. :)

Jon,

That's the same "System Settings" screen as the OP's screenshot. It's the same in 8 and 8.1.

The difference is that since your PC doesn't run or use a battery, you wouldn't have the "On battery" or "Plugged in" options for each available setting based on per system.

If I'm missing something, then please let me know what it is.

I am using a Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13. Can't tell whether 8.0 or 8.1. There doesn't seem to be an app for power management.

It's NOT though, it looks similar but the functions are all different.

Wait, I get it now, I don't have the Battery settings.

OK so it is the same thing but it is still not the area to use the change the advanced settings, that's in the Plan Itself.

I still need help here.
Here is one of two screens that say I have the password protection off.

The other screen:

So is my best option now to reset or restore Win8?
Thanks for any help.

I'm having the opposite problem and it's extremely annoying. I want a password prompt after my computer sleeps. I never had this problem with Windows 7 or 8.0 but this cropped up in 8.1. I'm perplexed that there are multiple control panels that do the same thing.

After 8.1 update, no change.

Brink;
Since I still have the problem and the 8.1 installation didn't change it, there is no point to doing a reset is there?
So a complete reinstallation of Windows is my last option?
Should I contact Microsoft or Lenovo first?

Bob

Hello Bob,

I'm not sure what else to suggest other than to start over with a clean install since we tried all the usual suspects. :(
