So I decided to do a game test run and played BO3 for a few mins and the CPU temp idled betweem 53-60, mostly around 55-58. I should not that I increased the fan speeds, but the CPU still idles anywhere from 42-55 when doing nothing.

Do you think its safe to play BO3?

Never mind. The temps hit up to 68C.

I restarted my PC and I'm now stuck in a BSOD loop. I've gotten memory management error and irlq not lesser equal, and others. Anyone have any ideas? This is so frustrating. When Windows attempts to do an auto repair it just fails and restarts, gets another BSOD and repeats.

the new CPU and heatsink is installed.

In the BIOS, have you loaded the optimal default settings after replacing the CPU?

the new CPU and heatsink is installed.

First could you upload the new BSOD zip.

Try running your system as bare as it could ( no usb devices, printer etc, no external pci (sounds)cards etc.) and use only 1 memory module in socket Channel A dimm slot O (blue), does this lower the amount of BSOD's.

But as i said earlier your memory is probably not compatible with your motherboard.
Yes, not compatible memory can cause any kinds of problems, because you have a unstably system. As far as i know it is not only the difference in voltages but also that it is not supporting the chipset. Also this newer modules may have a different technical specifications that your older chipset does not support(max. 8 chips with 256mx8 on 1 side) etc.
I advice you to contact G-skill custumor support ask them about your specific case.
Did you get any insight from GSkill that that your motherboard (p55 chipset) is supported by this modules(on their website it is not listed under QVE) and that the specs of the memory modules are compatible

@logicalthought you said:

This could point to your PSU, by increasing the fans your system takes more power if your PSU is faulty it could (further)destabilize your system and create all kinds of BSOD's.

I myself did not change any settings. I just put in the new CPU and used the PC.

i unplugged everything except the mouse, keyboard, and monitor. Running with once stick of ram and the sound card has been left out since the post where someone recommend that I remove it. Still BSOD loop. I even tried using a bootable usb to do a clean install. Once again got stuck in the automatic repair BSOD loop.

waiting on tech support from g skill at the moment.

and unfortunately I cannot upload the BSOD zip. I can't get past the BSOD loop.

Just talked to g skill tech support. They said that the memory is compatible.

it also seems very suspicious that I can't even boot from a USB.

So I went to bios settings and restored optimal setting and finally got it to boot. Could the CPU not running at optimal settings before be the reason the temps were getting so high?

I played a quick game of BO3 after installing msi afterburner and hwinfo so I could directly monitor the temps while playing.

i was hitting temps around 68 with 40% usage of CPU. is that normal? I feel like I should be getting temps that high with not even half CPU usage. Also hittigpng around 44 with only 10-20% cpu usage.

The settings in the BIOS haven't been updated optimal for the new CPU, that likely caused the problem.
The settings won't change automatically, unless you force it by going into the BIOS or pulling the cmos battery.

The temps look normal for me, it is certainly not overheating :)

So finally it appears as if everything is running normal again. I played BO3 for a few hours and the CPU was around 65-68C for most of the game. It hit over 70 a handful of times, but very rarely.

Do you think it's safe for me to start reinstalling drivers and or hardware?

Specifically I was thinking of reinstalling the geforce app and all the other drivers that go with my graphics card. Also would reinstalling the sound card benefit me in anyway. Like I know GPU's take the load of graphics processing when you use them, so do sound cards help take some of the load off of the other components for sound processing?

Yes, start with the devices that plug into the mobo inside of the case.
Important do these ONE at a time.
And use the computer for awhile and if you got no BSOD then apply another device.
Then start plugging in the external devices (usb controller, printer etc., one by one, until they're all in.
If you should get BSOD's again, this way you can discover the device who is the culprit.

According to your Creative Soundcard i would put this one as the last one in your system, because there are no windows 8.1 compatible drivers for it.
