Intel USB 3.0 driver for Z97 chipset - where to find?

Hi.
As I started with Windows 8 it became clear, that my buildin USB 3.0 hub did not work with Windows 8, but I found a solution here in eightforums.com ( read here: http://www.eightforums.com/drivers-hardware/13877-usb3-still-missing-new-intel-usb3-driver-2.html ).
Now I have moved on to a never chipset, the Z97, and a new CPU, and now I am again looking at my USB 3.0 hub that don't work. Is there a solution to use the windows 7 USB3.0-driver in the same way as above? Where do I find the "hacked" .inf files? Or what do I do with the default .inf files so they will install in Windows 8.1 with driver signing turned off like the earlier solution for Z77?

I use a Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z97 mobo, and I have downloaded the windows 7 driver for USB 3.0, so all I am missing is the .inf files or the knowing of how to change the .inf files so windows 8.1 don't reject them.

TIA

Well, I would think that your hub is suspect. I'm running a G75 VW and a WS with a P7P55-PRO board from 2008 both on windows 8.1 and the standard USB 3.0 Driver supplied with windows 8 and above. Intel has not written a USB 3.0 driver for Window 8 since MS embedded it the OS. You might want to lurk around the Gigabyte gaming forum is they have one that where you would find custom drivers it there are any.

#6 I know that, but there has to be some change to the 2 *.inf files in the x64 driver for them to allow installing in Windows 8.

#5 No, my hub is not suspect ;), it is just old, and don't support firmware upgrade. It works perfect in windows 7. Intel has not made a driver for windows 8, since Microsoft made their own . The reason is this:

One of the new features of Windows 8 is the built in XHCI host controller software and USB stack. While this brings some benefits like UASP support, there are some devices that currently don’t work with the Microsoft stack on the Intel USB 3.0 host controller. This can be fixed by forcing Windows to use the Intel USB 3.0 host controller drivers instead of the built in stack.

#4 I see no USB 3 driver in your link for Intel.

All I want is a hacked *.inf as in the link in #0, but for Z97 this time.

You don't need any hacking, just get your drivers from Gigabyte or Intel for the Z97 chipset.
Just looked and they are certainly on the Intel website.
Just looked at Gigabyte website, no surprise they are on there as well.

I have tried multiple times to update the USB 3 driver on my ASUS N750JV W 8 Laptop. Intel(R) 8 Series/C220 Series. At some stage I came to this web-page and tried it. It might help you.
The USB speed on my laptop never improved and is still between 5-10MB/S. I am very disappointed that ASUS or Intel haven't got anything suitable though got no choice.

Yes, this web-page is where I got my USB-driver for my older MSI Z77A GD65 and it worked fine, but after upgrading to a mobo with Z97 chipset, I can't get these drivers to work..

I am hoping that windows 10 will be better in supporting both categories of USB3 (both the Microsoft's windows 8, and Intel's way of making USB3 drivers) so we end-users can have a choise!

Reading article from older post on this in 2012, hard to say this is a resolve being older driver, even if only one. As mentioned something before about embedded into OS and or within your boards chipset drivers. This is what i have............My board is Gigabyte chipset X99
Although i have had issues with speed not performing as it should on USB 3.0, baffling thing to me is Gigabyte manual shows something that it is using Rensas USB 3.0 HUB chipset, drivers are nowhere to be found for Rensas, ones on disk do not work. Nowhere on Gigabytes site. Now not sure this is for hooking up a USB 3.0 Hub from internal connector, but on Gigabyte states 6 on back for Rensas. :sarc:
