So after a routine Restart this evening a new little symbol shows up in my Task Bar lower right corner.

Isn't this a little early?
Does this mean I could go ahead and upgrade to W10 if so desired?
Is this just a fluke on my machine or is this showing up all over the place?

This has happened on my desktop but I have not seen anything on my laptop and I have using it as well just to see if anything shows up.

I think this is the work of mystery update KB3035583

Do not get this on my PC and do have that update, not sure about your question about getting it now, since does not come out till end of year. Maybe technical preview is all.

I'm furious. I bought Windows 8.1 and it's my choice what I do with it. Windows 10 is a new OS and I don't care how much Microsoft wants to make sure they get a hit and massive numbers for Windows 10. I don't want pop-up adware on my desktop.

I do think this is the work or KB3035583.
Mystery patch KB 3035583 for Windows 7 and 8 revealed | InfoWorld

It originally showed up as an optional update but a week or so after it was listed as Important. I think it was in the same batch as KB3022345. I originally reloaded an image from before the large batches of optional updates which included KB 3022345 to sort out the problem update and when I isolated KB3022345 as the problem update I reinstalled all the others and KB3035583 was one of them.

If you read the pop-up you have to Reserve the free upgrade and then after it is released the download process will start. If you don't want Windows 10 then don't reserve it. You can also remove KBKB3035583 and you won't see the icon in the task bar. I just reserved my copy and When W10 is released it will download to my PC and notify me. Then I can install it when I choose or not at all.

I'm just bugged to be honest that there's no option to disable the notification in the context menu like really?
I ended up just removing the update because I don't wanna waste system resources on that.

Plus like, my current computer's motherboard doesn't support UEFI and supposedly Windows 10 requires UEFI for the install. :/ Hopefully I get my new computer built before 10 comes out or something. Gonna be fun waiting for everything to be fixed to run on Windows 10...

I have this message also, but I have 2 graphic cards. A Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 and a AMD Radeon HD 8730M.
Now I found out windows 10 does not support my AMD, but I don't use my AMD graphic card because if I do I'll get no visual screen.
Hope its not a problem for windows 10.

I am quite interested in Windows 10. When you click reserve what exactly happens? They email you a product key ?
I am currently running windows 10 on one of my virtual machine to test out some new features. I will soon be in the process of double checking applications compatibility, application data backup, and may buy an SSD. I have been considering an SSD for some time now. I been doing just fine without it, I seriously don't see how my PC can get faster for the work I do.

@Axe0 Try installing windows 8 drivers see if those work. AMD and WINDOWS® 10 If not, then all you can do is wait. I had a similar issue a while back when it was Windows 7 to Windows 8

Hello, I'm new. This probably isn't the best place to ask, but I'm planning on upgrading to Windows 10 as soon as I am notified. I have one question though. Will I lose all of my important files, or will they be kept?

Personally I would not click on anything that pops up like that. Without knowing if it is malware. Clicking on that icon, can open you up to allowing your machine to be infected.

Just remove the KB and it will go away for now, but Microsoft is going to be very aggressive for users of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 to upgrade when it is available.

I just got it. Appears that Microsoft is trying to get those in line, that have been using Windows 7 & 8 to be in the head of the line, when they release the finished product or as I like to state, the Beta to the public. By that time, I may be back to using Xubuntu, if they fixed the Cups issue with the Brother Printers.

I got this too and have no problem with it. If they offered it to you for money, then you can complain about spam, but its free, so not sure what the problem is. As a registered wins user, I expect messages like this, and it will save me work later on. I do have pop ups blocked in my machine both on and off line and this is the first I have had in a long time, no problem.

Just opened windows update in my laptop and there was a 'poster' saying to reserve win 10 click here, so I did and it then said I will be informed as and when.

Can I have a step by step to uninstall it? Thanks!
