Solved Annoying internet problem

Hi peeps. I have an annoying intermittent internet problem that I hope one of you awesome peoples can help me fix.

Once or twice a day (sometimes more) the internet will stop working on my computer, I just get a constant waiting.png. This is on all browsers. The only thing that fixes this is a restart of the machine.
Sometimes as the problems surfaces I can continue to browse the site that is currently loaded, but cannot navigate to other sites. Skype continues to work fine when the problem occurs.


I connect to the internet through wifi, when the problem occurs my phone and tablet continue working fine on the internet.


I thought the problem might be the wireless receiver dongle I was using, so I bought a wireless USB adapter but the problem persists.


Does anyone have any idea what might be the cause of this?
 
Possible bad routing after DNS lookup. Consider changing those entries to an alternate DNS lookup source (other than your ISP's default) for a quick test:

If making adjustments to the DNS servers doesn't work then I have a very good idea of what this problem might be as I've solved it before.

Same problem as I've seen recently, Skype works because it doesn't use DNS, and the problem appears to be DNS related however it's more likely to be a system file integrity problem that is easily fixed by following the advice in the link below. :)

Thanks chev65. It's been driving me crazy for a while now, I searched the net for a solution many a time but could never find anything relating to my problem.

I've done the DNS change, just need to play the waiting game to see if it fixes it, if it doesn't I certainly try your method. In fact it won't harm to do that now, cover all bases :D
 
Just a few more things for you to try until one of our wifi gurus continues his response to your issue:

Switch to a high performance power plan to see if that helps your issue.
Uncheck the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option (if checked) under the Power Management Tab in device manager for the wifi adapter. Go to:

Contriol Panel> device manager> network adapters> wifi adapter> power management tab> see the option above

You never mentioned what the scans said? Did they show any type of file problems?

Did they mention if they fixed anything?

I find it hard to believe this system passed those tests without error because I've seen this problem in the past and the symptoms you reported are precisely same.

I have a few more tricks up my sleeve but you need to work with me here. :)

Thanks bassfisher6522, one of the first things I did was make sure that the drivers and router firmware were up to date.
Unfortunately the above help didn't solve the problem.

I'm not sure what you mean by the fix? After the sfc/scannow scan you should reboot then run the DISM command.

Here is the deal, you may need to run both scan's, possibly three times with a reboot required after each scan in order to fix this type of problem. Keep running the scan's until they come up clean.

The fact that your scan did show problems tells us that we are on the right track.

You need to run the scan's until it says that the problems are fixed.
 
Okay, I have just run the scan again and it is now telling me that it 'did not find any integrity violations'. So it must have fixed them on the first go around the other day, but the problem still exists.

Ok good, so they fixed the system file problem. Did the DISM command report that it fixed problems?

Run the file below, it will reset the network stack and reboot your machine automatically. After the reboot please post the ipconfig/all from this machine so I can see what is going on with the network.

I tried resetting the router a while ago, not since the scan though. I'm as experiencing the problem 2-3 times a day, which was about the same before the scan. and I'm using Avast antivirus.

I tried resetting the router a while ago, not since the scan though. I'm as experiencing the problem 2-3 times a day, which was about the same before the scan. and I'm using Avast antivirus.

So everything appears to be working fine then it just goes off into the DNS tangent where it can only get to Skype and a couple other sites. Has this problem occurred since the scan's were completed?

Have you tried resetting IE 10 "browser" to defaults?

You might try entering the DNS server IP's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 into the routers settings for DNS servers then remove the DNS IP's from the IPv4 properties, this way only the router is handling DNS rather than windows.
 
Yeah it has done this since the scan just how you describe, and the only way I can connect again is by restarting the pc (disconnecting the wireless adapter, unplugging the router etc doesn't do anything to help, but restarting the pc fixes it) I'll put the DNS settings into the router, hopefully that'll help. Again appreciate the help :)
