Windows 8

but give it time and you to will come to like it
I wonder how much time we are talking about. I have been using it for a full year now and still don't like it. I have no technical problems with it and can do anything I want - but many things in an awkward way. Windows 7 is so much more elegant.

Caperjack here is my first and only post on these forums so far in which I asked for help in a very polite way and really can't see how you could get so annoyed by it.

''Good Morning

This is my first post on the Windows 8 forum though I had great help from Vista forums.

My computer died on me so I have jut got an Acer Aspire XC100 which I am pleased with though admit I'm struggling with Windows 8 so I am reverting back to desktop as much as possible.

My problem yesterday and today is; When I get to Microsoft welcome/ log in page I use the password I created on registration and it's rejected time and time again until eventually it's accepted, this happens with my Windows Live password too. I'm nervous about resetting my password in case I'm locked out altogether so would appreciate some advice please.

Thank you''

Ladypink put it across very well so please take heed of her post and if you are not willing to help or advise just ignore our posts.

Did it work.

Your initial problem may have been with the num lock. I noticed that the system sometimes turns the num lock on when you boot and then it releases it. With the num lock on, your typed input is, of course, garbage.

When something is going wrong - that is often when folk will raise their criticisms.

Normal human behaviour.

Conversely, if they get a new gadget, they may post up describing the stuff it does - praising it/the os/whatever.

You can turn off tabbed browsing and hide the tab bar by going into tools-->options-->tabs.

Good morning everybody, just getting my first sip of coffee yawn... Thanks for the cap LADYPINKtomato1 a picture says a thousand words. Yes you can put any type of theme in the borders just go to mozilla https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/themes/ when browsing keep an eye on the FF orb some are for Thiunderbird. If you see blue then go back one page to get back to FF. If you hover your mouse over a theme it will show in the browser border as an example pretty kweel feature. Will be home all day today to watch the Nascar race so I can answer any questions to the best of my ability.
Untitled.jpg

Yes SiB is really a life saver for W8 non touch desktop, r-clicking the orb will get you to property's and you can configure it the way you want. It's pretty straight forward I have mine boot straight to desktop and I also killed the "charms bar" in the process. Metro isn't ready for the PC desktop imo until they can get seamless integration with desktop apps. For now all associations are set to desktop and I never see metro ever...

Its a FREE program,, has a icon ( camera ) .. anyone know what the name of it might be ?...I'll need it when working here.
Thanks for any help on this.:)

I don't know of any other program, but 8 has Snipping Tool. Start Screen -> type "Snipping Tool" -> tap/click/enter to open. Or while it's seen in search you may right click for pin to taskbar or to Start. I put it on my taskbar since that's where I snip a lot. Of course it's a desktop program.

Any screen you're on you can push Windows key / Print Screen key for full Screenshot. It will create a folder in My Pictures automatically.

Hope that helps.
