Windows Media Player is required for Rhapsody to go, or what is called Rhapsody Premier. This means I don't have to be online and logged into the service to play music but the License is for use with Windows Media Player.
Windows 8 stripped "all" of this ability. This includes even if you purchased the app in 8 Pro because the program is for Microsoft apps not the stand alone player integration that previously existed with Windows Media Player and Rhapsody to go. You can't download the Rhapsody program in Windows 8. The program allows downloading and playlist generation. Windows Media Player is the core playback software when you are in online or offline mode. Microsoft killed this alliance when their desire to market xbox came into play with Windows 8 is what I have learned.
