) one shouldn't need it...but I prefer to have at least one "off line" virgin image and a monthly incremental too. It's a crying shame, that they make us search for a 3rd party solution.
System Image is still in Windows 8.1.

Yeah I know, I made one, but for some reason I couldn't get it to reimage my disk(thank god it was only a test). so I started using OneKeyRecovery until I tried Macrium after reading all the recommendations, about how great/flexible it is, in all the Designer Media forums.
I'*m not afraid to try new software, just slow to do it and only if I need it.

    Brink,

When you say Macrium is better, is that because you've seen Windows Image fail, or because Macrium has more features?

I've been using Windows Image whenever I've set up new Win 8 computers for people, have not had to do any restores yet.

    Thanks

Mostly because Macrium is more flexible which makes it more reliable in a variety of situations.

If you use Windows System Image as intended, then it's fine though.

    Windows 8.1

Hi, have a question here. I'm running windows 8.1 UEFI. First i've tried cloning my system disc with Acronis. Checked sector by sector and it said backup would be 119gb (size of my system ssd). Everything went fine, except the fact it end up creating 20,8gb file. I thought it doesn't make any sense since i have ~40gb used space in my ssd. So after few days (have installed few things since) i've tried windows built-in tool. Once again everything went fine, no errors or so, but it end up with 23,6gb folder. How's that possible? Does backup exclude something, like pagefile etc. ? I just want to know if i could trust that backup if i'll ever need to use it.

Hello Keyser, and welcome to Eight Forums.

The created system image is compressed some to help save space.

Thanks for your reply. So you think it's ok and i should be able restore my system from that? What you think about Acronis program, which option would be more reliable?
