When you didn't answer the question after the update it's no longer an added feature. System wise it's no longer considered a listed program, but rather a feature.

Run this http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/3047-sfc-scannow-command-run-windows-8-a.html

If it can't fix on the first try then the store may be corrupt. Run http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/26512-dism-fixing-component-store-corruption-windows-8-a.html

Then run scannow again at least until all is fixed. This will take a while.

Typed that into run the outcome was a black box flashing off and on, the same as the i.e icon result.

thanks for all the effort by the way, usually i can fix problems but this is a nightmare

Scannow and DISM are not items to be an operation of Run. They are run in Command Prompt. Did you follow the linked tutorials?

You may want to refresh to an earlier time. That will be less time than reinstall from the OEM partition.

yes i have tried everything, i have even had my bro round who is very good when it comes to this sort of thing and he hit a brick wall, phoned Microsoft and asked thier tech guys and they couldn't do it either, looks like a unfixable fix.
