I just spent the last weekend trying to 'upgrade' my new HP Envy laptop to Windows 8 Pro using a store bought OEM disc. I bought a Seagate Momentus XT hybrid drive and tried to ghost the factory drive - no luck. I then tried a clean install to the Seagate using the Recovery Discs I prepared originally - discs appear to be corrupted. I also tried booting from OEM disc and it appears that I'm missing a media driver. I read about installing from USB stick - tried that and no luck as the install couldn't see the new drive...
I now have a new notebook with no OS. My last resort at this point is to turn on legacy support in the bios and try to load the OEM disc. So much for trying to speed my laptop up.
Any ideas on how to get this thing working would be greatly appreciated.
