[DEL]Well... it seems the problem sorted itself out. I have windows back. Not sure what happened there, it wouldn't even let me bring up anything using Shift-F8/F9 :/about to try it right now
Thanks for the assistance though, I will remember this tactic if something else happens o/
For heck of it, run these both, let me know how it goes.Your welcome !
From Admin command prompt copy and paste, then press enter
sfc /scannow
Same command prompt copy and paste this, press enter, let it finish
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

I got the command prompt open (something I haven't done since windows 7), but it says when I try to run it I need to be running a 'console session' to use the sfc thing. I've never heard of this, I only have the know how to effectively navigate PCs (Why I was able to open up Task Manager with black screen). How do I run a console session?[/DEL]
NVM i think i found it
Looks like the dism command thing isn't finished yet, stand byCBS.log ? What about DISM did you reboot also ? Could be false positive from certain updates, post log here we can look at it. find it in C:\windows\logs\cbs

been on 20% for a while. Would that be a problem or no?Looks like the dism command thing isn't finished yet, stand byCBS.log ? What about DISM did you reboot also ? Could be false positive from certain updates, post log here we can look at it. find it in C:\windows\logs\cbs
Can take time as sfc does, o.k.
Ahh now it finished, it says whatever was corrupted was repaired. Now do you want to see the logs, and if yes, how do most easily get them to you?No, not always all system different, can take time. If get error message or can not fix, like still see cbs log.

Did you reboot, how is laptop ? Said SFC told you found corrupt files and was unable to fix check the cbs lob ?
Run sfc again to see after reboot.

Thanks again. I updated my Asus driver as well, and my Asus seems to be running fast since the Windows went ballistic... maybe that afternoon of headache was worth it in the endLet's see how laptop reacts over period of time, could of been caused by corrupt system files, time will tell.

Your Welcome !! Why and are you still running Windows 8 not Windows 8.1, if so should update soon. Make a manual restore point now.
Monitor it for a few days, keep this unsolved in case it happens again.
