Windows 8.1 consumers: It's time to move to Update 1

Today, June 10, is Microsoft Patch Tuesday. It's also the deadline for consumers running Windows 8.1 to install the Windows 8.1 Update if they want to continue to receive patches and fixes from Microsoft.

Microsoft originally imposed a deadline of May 13 on consumer users to move to the Windows 8.1 Update. On May 12, Microsoft announced a deadline extension to June 10.

OK, this is nuts...... I have KB2919355 installed (install date 6/11/2014). Yet when I go through the Control Panel/Program Features/Installed Updates, it says install date of 3/16/2014. Oh well, guess I shouldn't complain, had no problems with updating.

BTW, Store wasn't pinned to my Taskbar. It was pinned to my Start Menu.

There was more than one KB2919355. The original was a large download. Then they reissued it to fix the original and gave it the same number. The second one was a small download. Why they used the same kb number again I don't know.

I could have sworn the Store App was pinned to the taskbar. I've been doing clean installs of 8.1 with update 1 so maybe that's it.

I have checked many upon many times, I never got it...I will just manually install it.

Did you recently upgrade to 8.1 though the Windows Store? I do believe the Store Upgrade now includes update 1.

I have already manually downloaded it, in the right order and everything :)

OK, the point I was trying to make was, if you upgrade though the Store to 8.1, that update is now included. If you get it that way it won't show up in your list of applied updates. It is possible for you to have all the features but not see it listed as installed.
