Solved Why is OneDrive listed under Windows (C:)? Win8.1

If the files in your OneDrive folder are set to be available offline, then they will be actually saved on your hard drive using space.

If set to be available only online, then they are just references and only use a small amount of space.

Solved

Thanks again Brink. I read a few things about OneDrive on the Microsoft site. I didn't realise that if I click on the OneDrive app on the Startscreen, select "Settings" > "Options", I could then select "Make all files online-only". This freed up a lot of disk space on my PC.

One thing to remember is that if you use a specific OneDrive file it will become off-line (because it will be downloaded). If it is is big you might want to right click on it and make it "on-line only" again. This will remove it from your local disk but leave it on OneDrive.
