Taskbar - Open in Windows 8.1

How to Open the Taskbar in Windows 8.1

information   Information
While the taskbar is at the bottom of your desktop by default, Windows 8.1 Update has added to also see the taskbar on any screen, including Start or a Windows Store app.

The taskbar is where you can switch between apps you have open, go to Start or Desktop, check the notification area, and can pin apps you use often so you can open them right from any screen. You can customize the taskbar, including the way taskbar buttons look, how they group together when you have more than one window open, where the taskbar is on your desktop, and what icons and apps are on it.

This tutorial will show you different ways to open the taskbar in Windows 8.1 Update and Windows RT 8.1 Update.

EXAMPLE: Taskbar

Here's How:

1. Do one of the steps below for how you would like to open the taskbar based on what screen you are on.

2. While on the desktop, the taskbar will already be showing at the bottom edge of the screen by default unless moved or set to auto-hide.

OR

3. While on any screen, press the :winkey: + T keys.

OR

4. While on the desktop :)winkey: +D), if the taskbar is set to auto-hide, move the mouse pointer to the edge of the screen (ex: bottom) where the taskbar is located at.

OR

5. While on Start, Apps, PC settings, or a modern app, move your mouse pointer past the edge of the screen where the taskbar is located at.

Note   Note
Since the August 12th 2014 Windows Updates, the taskbar will on some PCs always show on the Start, apps, and PC settings screens if you do not have the taskbar set to auto-hide and you open the Start screen by pressing the Start button on the taskbar while on your desktop. If you multiple screens, then this doesn't apply.

If you do not have the taskbar set to auto-hide or you open the Start screen by pressing the Windows :winkey: key, you will not see the taskbar on the Start, apps, and PC settings screens unless you open the taskbar using this step.

That's it,
Shawn

I want the taskbar to stay open all the time in windows 8.1, in both start window and desktop window. It stays open in desktop mode but not in start window.
