System restore fails with 0x800700b7, error extracting

Recently, I've discovered that my system restore does not work. I thought it was due to errors with the specific restore points that I'd tried, but it also failed with a test restore point I'd created. The error can be found below.



I would very much like to fix this issue before the fate of my computer gravely depends on it. Any help would be appreciated.

Nope, didn't work. Disabled avast, ran chkdsk, and executed the dism command; still gets stuck on "system restore is initializing" for a minute before rebooting. I actually do like system restore (when it worked), so I kind of want to get this fixed. If that's just impossible, then I guess I'll resort to imaging my drives.
