Do you see a message saying "no bootable device found....."? I think your going to have to do a factory reset, if that's even possible now.

So it just goes right into the BIOS? Something isn't right with your BIOS settings if it isn't even trying to boot from something in the boot devices list?

yup. as soon as you press the power button it shows the asus loading screen for about 3 seconds and then it goes straight top the bios.

i could just buy a disc. and use another computer to download it onto and then move it over to that computer.

that would also cause issues with booting after you put it in your laptop .things are done different these days ,not like it was back a few years ago .

Yes, definitely try this. If that doesn't work maybe try rearranging the boot order like DVD drive first then hard drive.

I still don't follow? Download if from where? If you mean "install it onto", you don't want to install Windows on one PC and then move it to different hardware. You'll end up with driver issues and activation issues. Have you ever done a clean install of Windows?

The UEFI BIOS menu on my laptop doesn't look any different than any other BIOS menu I've used. Other than a couple of extra options like secure boot etc. I guess some have a quit advanced gui and mouse support. I have yet to see one of those though.

Order a set of recovery disks from the manufacturer, a lot cheaper than buying a new PC. Or install the free Windows 10 Tech preview.

Do you know anybody that has a Windows 8 Retail DVD. If I use my TechNet ISO, which I believe is Retail, it reads and uses the OEM embedded product code in my ASUS laptop. 8 Core is installed and it activates online with no issues. If you can get your hands on a windows 8.1 ISO you can do this, http://www.eightforums.com/installa...retail-windows-8-1-windows-8-product-key.html Once you install with the generic key do this, http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/27129-product-key-find-windows-8-a.html then this http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/8855-product-key-number-change-windows-8-a.html
