The micro-planets are basically a 360 degree panorama screenshot, are they?
I don't know what technique that is but the result is always great to see.

Indeed. I see the edge...

It should work directly with a 360° image, you can search some of those on google if you don't have any.

Then again: the sky (preferably) or the ground needs to be stretched or cloned to fit in some large gaps.

One trick, before doing polar distortion, try to make the left and right edges of the image to have exactly the same tones of sky and make sure not to have cut objects. If you are doing landscape, it's good to have trees and bushes on both ends because they are easier to blend. As for buildings, it is trickier.

I tried that with a 360° and there are no edges to fix, depending on image... just filling some gaps between sky and bottom.
That quick-cloning is not pretty I know, I was a bit fast painting.

Yes. As I said it's the seam that is the difficulty. The only place it really shows on mine is the bridge in the foreground. I managed to fix the sky OK.
