installed the MSI version and it did nothing. Ran the program and nothing. Found no way to access the program. It did make my Hard Drive spin like mad.

Zip version worked fine however.

Hi Haxid,
How long did you wait for P8's Main Button to appear when launched it fort he first time?
What OS do you use? What's the Windows theme selected? How is the TaskBar located?

What you describe is completely weird because files in MSI and 7Z are identical, MSI was introduced only for the easiness of install/uninstall/auto-update - that's it!

Which anti-virus do you use? It may cause such effects, I suppose.

Awesome guys!
When Microsoft closes a Window, there are always people ready to open a door :)
Thanks. Trying to do our best.

At the moment we're both having vacations, so the work is bit suspended, but later we'll continue and try to bring something by the end of the month.

Great work.

I like it so far, using it normally for daily tasks and no bugs discovered yet.
It's made in .NET and it's pretty stable and it's running as a 64bit process under Windows x64.

Question:
Do you need to click on the arrows next to Control Panel or My Computer buttons in order to expand the view?

Thanks
Hopachi

Hi Hopachi,
I can see three ideas behind your question, and try to answer all three.
1) Yes, you need to click those buttons to expand them, they won't expand on hovering;
2) Not only click, you can use your keyboard as well, Power8 is fully operational only with your keyboard;
3) Yes, items tree is not built automatically. This is done to reserve memory, that's why when you first time expand some folder, it may be slow sometimes.

Hope I answered your question :)

Yes I see. It worked by clicking on the arrow. Thanks.

I also like the small start button that it's used in place of a classic button down in the corner. Very neat and compact.

One little thing that I see: when you safetly remove usb sticks, the drives are in use and cannot be removed (only by force).
After closing Power8 then all usb's get removed again.

Good day!

we have just released Power8 Beta 1!

Finally, Metro blocking, recent applications, Jump lists support (even on XP) and more.

P8 should update automatically, but if not - use Download section of Power8 site.

Please post your feedback here or via comments of P8 site/directly to developers, we appreciate all ideas and suggestions .

Hopachi,
I confirm this problem, it is because Power8 watches all drives connected for file changes. The only exit I can see at the moment is to make user setting, to watch Removable drives or not to watch. But I'll take a deeper look into the problem closer to 1.0.

Best wishes!

Hi everyone!

We've just released Power8 RC1! *hooray*
Get it

Pin/Unpin functions, better user interaction when searching, better search results (want to get "Plants Vs Zombies" by typing "pvz"? ;)), first translations (Russian and Swedish languages), and a big load of fixes and enhancements.
Know more

The release is closer each day. Thank you for the support and feedback, it gives us the power to move further :)

I have one suggestion for Power8. Can you make the start button wider, or at least an option to make it wider?

I'm using a Samsung 7 Slate, and when using touch or the Wacom pen, it is hard to select it without selecting the icon next to it. Fortunately I was able to get it working easier by selecting turn off Metro on the context menu. I suspect the small start button was meant to be used with a mouse. But I have no mouse on my Slate.

That said, I prefer Power8 over ClassicShell, at least for now.

skallal,
as well as blocking Metro this will be an intrusion to the system (undesirable because we declare Power8 as non-invasive solution). Technically it is possible, but I'd like to have RTM version first. And the settings window. Anyway this should be on the top of features list for 1.5.

Hi everyone!
We were silent about Release 1.0, but it... well, it happened some time ago.
Today we released Hotfix 1 for version 1.0. And here go great news with this version:
1) the hotfix contains a number of stability improvements (see https://code.google.com/p/power8/wiki/Changelog ), in particular, Power8 won't die anymore in unpredictable moments, for example when you working with network files;
2) this version is tested on both builds 8400 & 9020. Power8 works with W8 RTM!

At the moment we're in progress of collecting your requests and ideas for further versions. Please take a look at the https://code.google.com/p/power8/wiki/FeatureRequests page and if your wish is not yet noted/discussed - feel free to comment here/there or write us an email.
