Now that I've played around a bit....

And yes, that IS Win 3.1 in Dos-Box there in the second shot.

I was perusing around with some .dll files and I ACTUALLY found some Windows 3.1 icons! So weird...

I'm curious, so you use both start menu and Start Screen? How does that work for you?

Well, at first I was very anti-Metro (thanks to the DP), so have been using Classic Shell.

Lately, though, I've been consciously trying to use Metro more, as it does work better
in the RTM, at least it seems so to me. And there's always the 'old' Start orb if needed.

The funny thing is, I'm not an old Start Menu 'die-hard' as I never bothered using it at
all until I got XP in about 2003, but ran everything through Explorer a la Windows 3.1.

Just goes to show how quickly one can become used to something....:)

**Edit: - The fact that I've actually tried to 'tame' the Start Screen in the RTM (whereas I
didn't really bother in the betas) certainly helps to make it more usable.**

I have no idea why. It were just there when installed. Actually it varies. My start screen on 3 PCs mostly consist of different groups with 4s, 3s, and even 2s large icons. My screen resolution are mostly at 1366x768 it remain the same if I connect it to 32" LCD TV since it has max resolution 1920x1080. Or maybe the aspect screen ratio (14:9) has something to do with it.?

I figured out that once the two columns are filled, a third will appear. Looks like you have to fill the columns completely before the shell will create another one for you. The number of rows you get is determined by your screen resolution. It can be changed by a registry key change, I've seen here on the forums.

Thanks for the reply Kevin :)
