Oh and notepad - try notepad++ instead, Oh and paint - plenty of alternatives out there, Oh and the snipping tool - lots of alternative screncap programs , Oh and ....
Linux is going in the same direction. Have you seen the Ubuntu Unity desktop or Gnome 3? OK they have a start menu of sorts but it fill the whole screen.

I voted No. It doesn't mean it is dead, just Microsoft won't reinstate it for a choice by default. It will probably turn up some time down the line as a theme (official MS) that allows your system to look and feel like Windows 7/Vista, but it will not be crowed about.
