Laptop keeps crashing. I have no idea why?

This is a perplexing set of BSOD's. It gives the impression of hardware problems - but it also shows issues with drivers.
Most times problems of this sort are due to:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website) - Looks like you've already done this
- overclocking - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers) - I don't notice any obvious problem drivers in the memory dumps
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

I'd suggest that you run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings Hopefully it'll point out a particular driver. I already have my suspicions - but would like to see if confirmed by Driver Verifier if possible.

Once Driver Verifier has crashed the system a couple of times (and we've reviewed the memory dumps), then we'll move on to my suspicions:
- Download a fresh set of the latest, Win8 compatible wireless drivers
- Uninstall the current wireless drivers
- Install the freshly downloaded wireless drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's
My suspicion here is based on the athw8x.sys driver being present in the raw stack text of both memory dumps.

Also, uninstall the Cyberlink software from the system as it's drivers date from 2011.

If all this doesn't fix the problems, then we'll have to proceed with the assumption that this is a hardware problem. As such, you can run these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics (you can run these immediately if you'd like to get a head start on them). If you've already run MemTest86+ for at least 3 passes - there's no need to repeat it.

This Driver has no updates.
It is also on my other laptop and shows no problems. (Same laptop only difference is 4 core not 2 core)

Hi,
You have a total of 3 crashes today. The first was caused by volsnap.sys is also known as Volume Shadow Copy Driver. This driver might be corrupted and might contribute to the fact that your new installation with the SSD running slow in your other thread.

The other 2 crashes were new and caused byMbam.sys with description Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware driver is a driver file from company Malwarebytes belonging to product Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. I suggest you temporarily uninstall it.

I had my suspicions it was that, as every time I had to reboot there were problems with mbam using so much CPU I had to disable it a few times and then it wouldn't crash.
Thanks everyone for helping as this was a difficult problem to be found.
Drinks all round on me!

I have decided to do a clean install again and just use the laptop for browsing purposes and not applying any third party programs to see if the original backup is safe.

Previously you tested with another hard drive. Was this a platter based hard drive (NOT an SSD)?
If so, then it's likely that you've ruled out any problems with the SSD.

Recurring BSOD's after a clean install, without any problem devices/drivers, is likely to be a hardware problem.

Another Crash!
Erm, just before it crashed the wireless capability went off and I could not reset or activate it. It would not work at all. Then five minutes later it crashed.

Any results on the hardware diagnostics yet?

Lot's of networking stuff in the stack text.
First try removing the wireless drivers and installing a fresh set of the latest available drivers.

If that doesn't work, then try another wireless card - or remove the wireless card for testing

I've had to send the laptop back to Samsung. It showed some faults on the memtest. It was playing up quite badly in the end.

Hmmm !!! This was my suspicion on the very first post (post #4 & #7) and you told me that there was no problem with the memory. Did you actually run the test over night as suggested ?

Is there a better memory diagnostic test besides Memtest86+ ? This is a 2nd thread that I've involved with which Memtest86+ failed to detect the errors. Thanks

It was only running for 1 hour and 55 minutes Pass 1 and you already got that?

The funny thing is that I did the test previously as said but, that threw up no problems. I didn't expect it to happen when I did the second test?
