Just what I've been waiting for :)

Don't mind at all. I bought the phone outright and went with a AT&T $40/mo prepay plan that includes unlimited call minutes, unlimited domestic and foreign text, and 200mb data. When I lived in the north woods I did, but don't need a whole lot of data for I live around the big city. There's WiFi most everywhere. At home, of course, our local watering whole we hang at, most restaurants, and stores.

I think you have satellite for data if I remember right. If you're thinking of getting one and tethering, remember this is 4G LTE. I know you live in a remote area. How close are you to a tower? And would that tower support 4G? I realize it would use earlier gens, but they'll say it's a 4G phone to try and sell you a 4G plan that you may never use or use very little if traveling near a 4G tower. Quite frankly, I don't trust any of these service providers. AT&T boasts of the largest 4G area, but we'll see how it goes. Oft times paying for a 3G plan with Vz I would only get 1G. That's one of the tactics these companies use to jack up prices.

Thanks for the reply! I do happen to live within 3 miles of cell tower that supports 4G, so what I am currently using is a Verizon 4G Mobile Hotspot, which costs me $50 a month for 5 Gbs of data. I would like to add a smart phone, but simply can't justify the extra cost.

Hi Tony. If you don't mind saying, how much do your pay a month for your talk/data access plan for the smart phone. I've only checked into Verizon and it was going to cost me $70 a month, which is much more than I want to pay for.

Same for me.. I can't justify that much extra to just own a Smart phone.. I'm one mile from the AT&T office. no personnel but installers , etc there..
A tower is close to me.. plus I have my own hotspot.. with my router.( my phone gets 4 G lite here )

Hi LPt! Hope all is well with you and that you had a nice Thanksgiving!
Its good to know I'm not the only one in this world who doesn't have a smart phone. :D

Now that MS has purchased Nokia, we will see some great additions. This is one I've been waiting for. A Nokia phablet > Look at the specs of this beauty.

The only problem I see is that it may only be offered exclusively through at&t. I'm contacting MS/Nokia to see if I can purchase this outright to go prepay. I don't want contracts.

Coming soon! With a six-inch, 1080p full HD screen, enjoy what’s on your phone in a whole new way—even in bright sunlight. Take stunning photos with the 20 MP PureView camera. Zoom in, reframe and recrop your shots into new images, and get creative with exclusive photo editing tools. Then use Nokia Storyteller to organize your photos and videos in creative ways to tell rich stories using an interactive map. All of this plus Microsoft Office Mobile and SkyDrive to stay productive on the go. Color availability may vary by country.

OFF Subject
, who created your Christmas Sig. ? I love it.

LJay hi.. I'm doing well... it's still quite cold here.. we finally make it up to about 60 degrees today,
then later this week, we get another blast from our west. I recall reading this will be a bad winter, that causes me to wonder
what we may have later in FEB. and March , when we usually get our worst weather in Winter.

We have had quite warm temps Christmas week, I've had to run the AC..
we have crazy temps all year round now it seems.

Good to hear you are doing well LPt! We're lucky if we make it up to 32 degrees this time of year. Sounds like we are going to get some below 0 temps this week. On the bright side of things, I'll be out doing some ice fishing on my favorite lake soon. :D

I see you are all decked out for the holidays! :sarc:

I love my Nokia Lumia 920 and I've had it for a year. Once my AT&T contract is up (November 2014), I'll switch to Verizon and get a new Nokia phone. My wife and daughter's phones (HTC Inspires) are up in March of 2014 and they will also get Nokia phones on Verizon. AT&T has been a completely unpleasant experience for us due to poor coverage. Just my experience....

Oh? Sorry to hear that, Art. I haven't run into any problems as of yet. It may be that I live around the Big Windy. I haven't been traveling with it yet either, so we'll see.

I would have stayed with Vz, but they didn't offer the 1520. I also needed to buy out of the contract for my daughter bought herself an iPhone.

I see the government is clamping down on these carriers to unlock the phones. Hopefully they will. If we run into problems we'll be able to switch at any time.

I watched a big broo haaawww on CSPAN yesterday held in Washington , DC ( Tuesday Dec. 10th ) about the NEW upcoming expansion/ spectrum of air space for WI_FI and buy outs of contracts .. covering the USA.. seems they will have to share somewhat.. with those around them, they are now trying to set up rules for those things concerning smaller rural locatons, who gets to keep what, how and what they get in a package.. ( they seems to be deciding what will encompas each package. ) we are about to go right back to where we were before the phone breakup years ago. Much more to come on this.. they are NO where near the finish line. If you get CSPAN on your TV or phone, stay tuned in for whats coming .

Thanks for the heads up, LPT. :)

Here’s something we don’t here too much of in the news for some reason. Some groups are pushing to get this up and running and are making great strides. “Super WiFi”. While the big tech companies are all for it because more people will be able to get online at a more reasonable price, make internet calls, and it will promote for more innovation. In the mean time the cell phone carriers are deadly against it for it cuts into their market share. Share, IMO, that has become too costly and constricted.

Super Wi-Fi is a term coined by the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to describe a wireless networking proposal which the FCC plans to use for the creation of longer-distance wireless Internet access.[1][2] The use of the trademark "Wi-Fi" in the name has been criticized because it is not based on Wi-Fi technology or endorsed by the Wi-Fi Alliance.[1] A trade show has also been called the "Super WiFi Summit" (without hyphen).[3] Various standards such as IEEE 802.22 have been proposed for this concept.

Instead of using the 2.4 GHz radio frequency of Wi-Fi, the 'Super Wi-Fi' proposal uses the lower-frequency white spaces between television channel frequencies.[4] These lower frequencies allow the signal to travel further and penetrate walls better than the higher frequencies previously used.[4] The FCC's plan was to allow those white space frequencies to be used for free, as happens with shorter-range Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Super Wi-Fi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Super Wi-Fi isn't really Wi-Fi, a form of wireless networking which uses unlicensed spectrum. Instead, it's a new kind of wireless network running on unused or underused spectrum known as "white spaces." It's championed by the likes of Google and Microsoft.
