Just what I've been waiting for :)

Ok Guys and Gals.. I've just ordered my RED Nokia 1520 pkg.. like HGypsie ordered, NO Contract.. from the Microsoft Web Store.
I received the White back cover.. Free sims card, free shipping and $50 dollar shopping card.

When it arrives, I plan to take it to the ATT Store, get my plan set up, not sure exactly what I'll choose yet with the NO Contract. .... any suggestions will be welcomed.

I now have a contract, that expired way back with ATT( after the 2 year contract ended )..... this will goooooooo away for good.

OH dear.. I failed to ask when I could expect it to arrive.

The MS online store bundle is a deal compared to others. Just the phone alone at AT&T online and in their stores is $584.99. Online AT&T states that the shipping date is November 19, so hopefully the MS store will be the same.

I'm going with the $40 plan. Unlimited calls, unlimited messaging (text, picture, video > which includes to Mexico, Canada & 100 countries), 500 call minutes, and 200 MB of data. That will be more than sufficient for me. I may go with the $25/250 minute plan, but I'm not sure that will be enough for me. My average is around 300 call minutes. It's $5 more per 50MB of data with that plan, however most of my data is via WiFi since I live around the big city. WiFi is most everywhere here.

Coming Soon: Emulators for Windows Phone 8 Update 3

Hmm, I sure would like to be able to run that in a VM in a Windows 8.1 desktop.

Are you going to do some developing? I’d bet you’d be good at it.

Or bail...

Oh I wish I knew how to do this.. I'm actually just a beginner in anything pc related.

AT&T now has the Lumia 1520 for $99.99 with a 2 year contract instead of $199.99.

I was just barely able to cancel my order to get it for the new price.

I've just cancelled my original order.. I'll buy the phone on the ... 2 year contract.. for this new price and add the $40.00 Mo. plan.
Thanks for the share.

Hi there LPT. Concerned for you here. Assuming this is through AT&T online > Are you sure you went through the total buying process on the AT&T site? Although a good up-front cost savings, I came up with an $85 a month cost with a two-year plan at the $40/Mo service plan. With taxes I would estimate it to be around $95/Mo, although I’ll have to pay a tax on my prepay plan as well.

Since Shawn brought this to our attention, I investigated my bundle via the MS online store with this one. I picked the $40/Mo service plan with no insurance and no extras as I would be getting with a prepay plan. The only difference is that you get 1GB of data whereas I get 200MB. This is what I get at checkout:

Bottom line > Although one is spending full amount with the up-front cost of the phone, in the long run with a $40/Mo prepay plan it is a roughly $700 savings over the 2 years. In essence that’s what they are charging to subsidize the phone. Basically, think of it as interest to borrow the money for the device.

I don’t mean to push the issue. This may or may not be something you’re aware of. It may be what you and others want. Just making sure. :)

Just arrived.

Wow, the Lumia 1520 (6") is just a bit bigger than my old Galaxy S2 (4.5").

LOL, I wondered how long it would take before someone noticed that. :p

Good for you, Shawn! That was quick. :)

Are you disappointed with the size?

Yeah, for only $10 for next day air, I couldn't turn it down.

Nar, I think the size is perfect. It just seems bigger than expected in person.

Yes, I think it will be a perfect size for a phab. Anything bigger would be difficult to place in a pocket.

Ugh! Received an email from MS Store last night stating:

Because of overwhelming demand, your Nokia Lumia 1520 order is delayed in shipping. As soon as your shipping label is printed, we'll send you an email with the tracking information. You can also track your order on our site.

To make it right, we would like to give you a one-time promo code good for $25 off your next purchase from Microsoft online store. It's our way of letting you know how much we appreciate your business.

Guess I’ll have to wait longer than anticipated. I’ll get an accessory. Lol! Maybe a black case! :D

To be continued….

It's here! Shipped yesterday morning > delivered this morning. :dinesh:

I chose black also. What a beauty, eh Shawn?!! I suppose you've had yours up and running? Liking it?

Not liking the white case I got stuck with, though. That simply will not work in construction. None for it on the MS online Store yet. I'll see if I can trade it at AT&T store.

I'm off to the AT&T store to get my prepaid service.......

Edit:

I miss Cockie to share the enthusiasm with. :(

Oh yeah. So far I like the phone quite a bit. I'm just hoping that they come out with some decent sturdy cases for it soon.

What did you think of it's size when you first looked at it?

I wasn’t surprised at the size, for I’ve seen and held a few of the Sansung Galaxy phads. I think the size of it is perfect. Although I don’t do so a lot, it fits into a pants pocket. I like the way the back curves up to the edges for an edge that fits the finger bends. It’s a comfortable fit. I’m hoping the case doesn’t ruin that.

I think this device is great for what it is. Quad core 2GB Memory > This thing is quick! I’m liking it a lot. It surely will simplify my life.

The hardware quality is just as good as Apple products and is sleek. There’s not a whole lot of accessories for them yet, but I’m sure they’ll come in time. A case is a must. I’d hate to drop this beauty without one. We know sooner or later that happens, for we have them with us most of the time. The case I received is a high impact plastic flip cover case. It’s got a white back and tan cover > Ugly to me. I don’t want to unpackage it yet to try. The sales person at the AT&T store said he’ll trade me a black one when the get some in. I’m wanting to get a dash/windshield mount for it for navigation and bluetooth. We have to be hands-free here after the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] of the year.

There is a case listed here: Nokia Lumia 1520 - Glossy Red cell phone from AT&T

The wait is over > The play is on! I’ll try and report back in a few days after doing so.

I cancelled my Microsoft order..( really nice to work with there ) then tried to purchase the phone at AT@T store..
they do NOT have it,so I checked on plans..they cost a fortune.
They used my old plan, then added the data plan to it, (seems there is just the share plan ) .
NO ONE here to share with., why do I have to share ?
The least plan offered is the plan I already have , ( NGSM-250 1KNW-stuff I don't ever use, this is basically just calling
or someone calling me , nothing more. )everything else will cost extra, that would now cost me almost $70. a month plus tax.
(250 mg ) anything more is extra it seems.
I'm not obligated on this phone just yet, nor have I made the purchase.

They didn't have them in stock in our town store either, LPT.

A day with the phone and I've got it pretty much set up the way I want it. It's much like 8/8.1, so it was easy for me to do so. Start Screen and All Apps are vertical instead of horizontal.

First thing I liked was double tap on the screen for quick view of time and weather on the lock screen. That means it could be setting on something to do so without picking it up to push a physical button. Unlocking it is quick also.

Overall it was an easy setup. I like the way the device "flows". I'm very satisfied with my purchase. :)

Hi Tony. If you don't mind saying, how much do your pay a month for your talk/data access plan for the smart phone. I've only checked into Verizon and it was going to cost me $70 a month, which is much more than I want to pay for.
