Solved Install problem ,Wintel windows8.1 32bit UEFI

Glad to help... or should I say more accurately, try to help !

I didn't notice you had only 2 GB of RAM, that makes it indeed useless to have a 32 bit OS, except for running 64 bit programs of course, but fortunately, as of today programs not available in 32 bit are a rarity.

the win 8.1 that i have already that is an original dvd , but its in 64 bit - i cant use on the 32 bit system right.!

If your PC came with a trial version = then you need to have a product key to activated it.. If you do not have a product key = you need to purchase one..

The OS software is free - but you need a product key to activate it.. the product key does not care if x86 or x64 OS

you can use your 64 key on your 32 pc - the key is the same for both
but there are many different editions of windows 8 /8.1 and the key must match the edition (Pro, core, SL, bing, enterprise, et.)

Hi again KYHI.
Ok well I hope I can use it somehow.
My pre-installed version is named win 8.1 Bing.
And when I try to use the 64 key I get an notification i can't use this to activate this 32 bit version.
But never mind I can always as you mentioned purchase a new correct one trough the system.

But you already have a Windows license ! Something's wrong here, that's throwing money out of the window, you should check with the people who sold you this. They should give you a Win 8.1 Bing license key in replacement of the one given with the DVD, or install the same edition as the one on your DVD...

Well the whole problem was actually that it seems impossible to install my other Windows because I never got anything to boot up. and after KYHI's good advice I won't even bother to.
And the licence key I got , doesn't work for the pre-installed win 8 32.
And I can't change or get the money back , because it is bought earlier in another town and I already opened and tried to use it .. so that's it.
Just put the rockboots on and yippee kaieyy .. buy the right key.

You can run this on your system - to see what edition you have installed, the trial key and the embedded key, if any..

What edition of windows 8.1 matches your DVD product key.. Core, Pro, Single langage?

Click on control panel > system = what edition is listed as on that PC

we can change the images - you do not want to use x64 on that PC

i did run that showkey program ..
i tried to type in both key strings but one was the installation key and the other did not work.

your system has bing.. .your system does not have an embedded product key...

do this for me - from a command prompt(admin) type one command at a time

diskpart
select disk 0
list partition

post a pic of cmd windows

Just a wild guess... could it be that the firmware is bugged, there is an embedded product key but it doesn't appear in UEFI mode ? That would be very difficult to prove however, since it would most likely require to boot another OS in legacy mode, and that's where it all started (except no try to boot in legacy mode was made, maybe ?). But if there is an (inaccessible) embedded product key, that would mean you bought one Windows and have two product keys, one for each edition.

Anyway, I don't know how the law in Sweden is, but I guess it's not that different from France, it's because you opened and tried to used your product that you discovered those problems, that's normal, so you're still entitled to some extra support from the reseller, and maybe a refund. That being said, it's understandable that you want to avoid the hassle, and prefer to buy a new product key...

The OEM installed a trial version of "Bing" and sold it that way
the OEM never embedded the key or provided a non-trial "Bing" product key

(that is what I think has happened here anyway)

"Bing" is OEM ONLY software and MS provides it free of charge to the OEM..

So what good it was to install a Trial version of Bing > when Bing is free = blows me apart with this one..

Unless the intention was to also sell a non-trial edition of windows at time of sale..

We can swap out editions and use his current valid product key - but he should use x86 software

Godmorning KYHI & NOVHAK.

Well it's seems a bit akward this system I must say.
It has always been a bit of work with Windows to get it the way you want it.
But this is just plain stupid to make a system you can't even boot any other media with to install anything else.

It will be very interesting to see how this turns out.

Very strange one this... See if View attachment ShowKeyPlus.zip helps - If there is no OEM key, click on 'check product key' and enter/paste your key...

Hi again .. here is what i found.

when i go into control panel - activate windows screen:
it says
"installed key: xxxx - and the 4 last digits is same as in the key i get from showkey plus.
but if i enter the installed key from showkey plus it is not correct , enter another key .. bla bla.
