Yes, and so I just did the x86 version for 1709, and I updated it right up to the latest build 16299.201 before I re-instated WinMail

I re-instated WinMail by following our same Tutorial on Post 1 - I much prefer it actually!

And then I proceeded to add the new files needed to get this working.

Then right there I started up WinMail and the screenshot above is what I saw.

Edit:
I have now updated the WinMail Tutorial to include the extra files necessary to get Windows10, v1709 working.
I further simplified the process - See Post #2 here (of course you must do Post #1 first)

I was using from Vista :) When installed 7, i proceed your list and i use it again. When 1709 came, it disappeared and i have to move Thunderbird. But with this solution, I just did what listed and VOILA. Everything came back :D

@endeavor, now you have to do something ;)

Hi there

Got this working too but a couple of annoyances - wonder if anyone can help.

Theres a Microsoft Communities news account and folder in the folders list and in the accounts - every time I delete it and restart Windows mail it reappears ?

Also I cant get the right click on a file and "send to - mail recipient" function to work - dialogue comes up requesting me to register with MS outlook - even though I have set windows mail as the default mail app and it has its max allowable default protocols etc assigned to it. Had it working in my last early windows 10 installation but if i remember it only started working after i had to do a registry clean/restore aftyer getting malware. Was up until then not working nor did it work in windows 7.

Cheers

Hello murd26 and welcome to EightForums.

iirc that Microsoft Communities listing can't be removed (permanently) until WinMail is properly defaulted or other newsgroups are enlisted first.

Thanks - I fully appreciate that - lucky we're managing it now - I've done it from vista to seven and twice to 10

Out of interest are you or other having this bug also ?

When you go to options > advanced. are the options blank ? mine are and always have been with migrated winmail

Go to the Page 1, Post 1, Tutorial, and in the first paragraph click on the Errata link, and when you get to that bug list page, then read down a paragraph or two and you will see on the second bold heading, that Blank options issue you've mentioned listed and what you can do about it! You have some catch up reading to do, and any questions feel free to ask...

I said I wasn't done yet but why when I asked a question you don't answer but then you post another question - wth <g>
.
And so again I'm asking what specific is it about WinMail why you posted?
What specifically is not working for you?

I don't have Thunderbird installed on the 1709 install right now and at the moment, because for me that just adds many too many more things into the mix in order for me to properly research the current problems that exist. I'm sure you understand that.

When MS removed the OE legacy code of WinMail the results were substantial. I tracked every file/registry change made between 1607 and the latest 1709 and have them all for reference. Thousands of registry changes and many file changes just related just to WinMail itself. I can see and interact with it all. I have to meticulously go back and go over the related changes and see if I can re-instate some of what was done to the MAPI sections, and whatever else is related, to see if I can get it back.

I see orgi posted the MAPI additional fixes for Windows10 v1709 today.
As he mentions he has some tech friends helping him with this.

I made all the changes.
I've also file/registry simplified the procedure, and removed unnecessary redundancy.
...and it all worked just fine.
(remember though, the original Bug List is still the same, and may even have additional issues with this)

Now MAPI and SendTo Mail Recipient works fine, etc, and attaches files just fine, etc..

My Windows Mail is listed in the Default Apps section where it should be, with other settings we mentioned previously.

I transferred over my entire Win7 WinMail setup to Windows 10 this morning for testing, and here's a screenshot of that.
(I covered some of my tech news groups listings for privacy, and just show a random nntp; I don't show all the many accounts I have under Other, etc...)

I'm getting stuck on the final step, when I try to merge the 1703.1709 reg file I get this. Is there anything you can suggest to get this to work?
