Anyone using Windows 8 as Primary OS?

And seriously, that legendary UP button in Win XP explorer that was removed in Vista and 7 (why??) is back.
.

Seriously ?, is that so hard to click on anyone of the folder in the address bar to come back where you want. It's way more usefull than a UP button since you don't need to click may time to come back few folders UP

The "Up" button is always in the same place.
Since the default size for open/save windows is pathetically small (and there doesn't seem to be a way of changing it) often only part of the address is visible.

That said, I use a combination of the Navigation pane and Breadcrumb Bar (since the Navigation pane has a horrible habit of randomly scrolling away from where you are trying to navigate to).

I agree about the breadcrumbs, but when not all path is visible it gets annoying.

Still the UP button stays: I was already used to it in all operating systems I used.
Why would they put it back? To satisfy all those possible upgrades from XP maybe (those that didn't upgrade or used Vista & 7)?

I think the up button makes sense. Sometimes, like if you just open up your profile folder from scratch, etc., breadcrumbs does not show the folder that your profile exists in. It will be handy in those cases to have the up button back..

I loved the UP to button, does not make much sense now but, no harm of it being there though. There are those that are simply not familiar with the breadcrumb navigation bar and the UP to button was a more obvious way of navigating into a higher ranking location for some people maybe.

The removal of the Start Button was the stupidest thing ever in Windows 8 to me because although people have found ways to live without it, there are several others that would start up confused and some would just give up from then on.

I'm dual booting Release Preview with Windows 7 on my main desktop PC. I've been running it as my main OS for about a month. I reinstalled RP just recently to fix some issues. Getting my onboard VIA sound working was a bit of a pain too. I've had one or two weird graphics glitches with Metro and some apps just quit and then refuse to work again.

I saw a rumor the other day that the upgrade version is going to have a "Back to the Future" Button. You press it and your PC is restored back to your original Windows 7 install. :p

Another thing I find useless in Windows 8 is the File menu in Explorer. There are literally a few useful things in it and the rest isn't needed, like Close. I think Microsoft should pioneer in their Ribbon UI some because more software developer's are using that UI design and with that comes the odd program menu that Office 2007 had. Instead, they should chuck the File menu, consolidate the few items that are of use within the tabs, and use that space for a large back button and a small forward button. It's getting annoying to see programs like AutoCAD totally butcher the Ribbon UI to the point where the previous versions are a tad better to use. There needs to be a better template than what it is now.

I've tried the Windows 8 Release Preview a while back, but I removed it. The only thing that I find good about Windows 8 is the fact that it boots faster and uses a bit less memory that Windows 7. The whole Metro UI thing is something that just doesn't call my attention but it doesn't mean I won't use it. Would be nice if the good old start menu can be hacked into Windows 8 but I heard Microsoft removed the ability to do that.

I'm using Win 8 with Media Centre on every PC on my home network and I love it.

Since putting it on my ultra book, I haven't picked up my iPad once. Can't wait for the tablet PCs to come out.

Only trouble is a bit of over scan over HDMI, but bearable until I find a fix - probably a hardware change a it's an ATX problem.

well, I don't get it.

Using Win8 since last year October and do not understand anyone installing Consumer or Developer P at this time.

The Release P version did not give me any problem worth mentioning.

For those NOT liking Metro, you can avoid to use "Maps", "Music", "IE", etc.

I removed all this from the Metro, pinned IE, Chrome (default starting page is Google Maps), Windows Media Player in order to use only half of the screen. Dido for my camera.

Many of the users here use Win8 as there primary machine.

So I am happy with this. But liking Win8 is strictly personal.

The 32-bit CP is still rockin' along just fine on the AS5735.

Been running since March, and hasn't missed a beat so far.

It was an upgrade over a 3-year-old Win 7 Ultimate installation (OS and
programs only, my files & data are on another drive), the only issue I
had was that SIW didn't work.

Must have done something wrong......
