    Solved Update for Works Database

Thanks for the suggestions, Jakester, but neither one worked. When I try to open it in Excel is said "file type not valid," and it has a ".csv" at the end. When I start Word, go to File menu, then New, I don't get a "More Word Templates" option. I guess I just have to face losing the info, and...

    Solved Update for Works Database

As to Works, I have no idea what version it was. I lost it when I got rid of my old computer. The "Word" version is 2007.

    Solved Update for Works Database

I have some Microsoft Works Database files I'd like to continue using, although MS Works has long disappeared. Does anyone know of a conversion technique/program to make these DB files usable with Microsoft Office. Seems like a step backward to not allow some kind of conversion for these...

Solved Unable to download updates to newly installed programs.

Well, I don't know what happened, but in desperation, I just closed the installed program, and shut down/restarted the computer. Then, after restart, I opened the program with "run as administrator." I OKd the update, and....it TOOK! Still have some bugs to work on with the site support...

Solved Unable to download updates to newly installed programs.

I did find a "run as administrator" option on the setup file, clicked on it, and the installation started. When it finished, it asked to check for updates. I allowed it, but got the same message. "RT patch error, cannot download update." Still no luck.:(

Solved Unable to download updates to newly installed programs.

Yes, I have a Setup file. Its properties show a "general" and "details" tab. Under the details tab, there's a list of things; one says Owner and next to it, it says "everyone," but it doesn't seem to have a way to allow me to change that. And that's the closest thing to a "user" or...

Solved Unable to download updates to newly installed programs.

Well, I can't believe this, but I can't find an .exe file. Here's what I tried: I put my app's CD in the disc drive, and when it asked me what I wanted it to do, I said, "open files." There are a number of Zip files, which, when I tried to unzip them, said "cannot open," but I right-clicked...

Solved Unable to download updates to newly installed programs.

I only have the one account. At the initial setup, it opened with my Microsoft Account, and I've stuck with that ever since. I have no other account on this new PC.

Solved Unable to download updates to newly installed programs.

On the first program, that was one of the first things I tried. No luck. I just tried it on the second one, and it says it does not "support run as administrator." It suggested I login as a user w/admin. privileges. Thanks for the suggestion, though. I had forgotten I hadn't tried that on...

Solved Unable to download updates to newly installed programs.

Hi. Not sure this is the right forum...if not I apologize. I have a new (2-weeks) HP computer with Windows 8.1 installed. I have tried to install two programs via CD, both successfully. However, when the new programs check for updates (both say there is one available), I get a message that...
