    Outlook 2013 Notifications.

I'm back. I'm totally new to Outlook, but noticed on doing an image search that it must be, or was at sometime, possible :sarc:.

    Outlook 2013 Notifications.

Hello again (it's been a long time...). I use Outlook 2013 on Windows 8.1 but I don't like the notifications popping up at the top right hand corner of the screen. I always want to do something at that part of the screen when they come up. The ideal place would be down the bottom right hand...

    Video DVD Burner Required.

OK, all done. I can convert the WMV to VOB with XMedia and then burn a disc with WinX DVD Author. With this method there is no slight aspect change that occurs with DVDFlick and the sound is not ever so slightly out of sync as happens if the whole process is performed by WinX and Ashampoo...

    Video DVD Burner Required.

Hi. Yes, I'd thought of that and came across XMedia, but it seems like it's comes with loads of spyware, but I'll look again, thanks.

    Video DVD Burner Required.

I've had a go with WinX DVD Author, but that leaves the sound out of sync. I have a feeling I may have to spend some money, but I don't trust companies that the product will be of a suitable quality and the old finances are stretched as it is. I wonder exactly how much the codec would have...

    Video DVD Burner Required.

OK, tried it but it's no good, it won't work with .wmv movies. Oh well, there you go... keep searching I suppose..................

    Video DVD Burner Required.

Thanks. I had looked at that but couldn't download it earlier, but now it works but from another device! Oh well, technology eh? I'm giving it a go...

    Video DVD Burner Required.

Hello again everyone. I've just had a bit of a shock. I've made a .wmv video with WMM6 but Windows 8.1 DVDmaker will not burn it to a Video DVD like Windows 7 did. I believe this is because Microsoft will not pay for the Codec. So I need burning software to create a DVD. I have Power2Go, but...

New Updates Available notification in the Taskbar?

UPDATE (Ironically). I've had to disable the notifier, as it sends VMI Provider Host crazy, causing high CPU usage. Oh well, it was worth a try and was of great use whilst it lasted. Bye for now.,

    windows 8.1 vs ubuntu 14.04

Thanks Jimbo. I take it that this is what you use? https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/free#desktop_end_user_computing/vmware_player/6_0 I suppose you install VMware and then install Linux whilst running the VM? Paul.

    windows 8.1 vs ubuntu 14.04

An annoyance to me when using Ubuntu and Mint, was updating the OS rarely seemed to work, was clunky and slow. Also, if I remember correctly, quite often updating involved downloading and installing a whole new version. Is this still the case? Another question; Is running a VM a danger to the...

New Updates Available notification in the Taskbar?

I've installed it and it seems a great little piece of software. Quite comforting to have those alerts back and so much more user-friendly than the yellow writing on the Log-in screen. I tend to miss it as I just quickly enter the password and hit return, whereas my eyes are continually looking...

New Updates Available notification in the Taskbar?

Thanks, that's very interesting. I wonder if it's a safe download?

New Updates Available notification in the Taskbar?

Hello again. A niggle that's potentially quite a problem is that my 8.1 laptop Taskbar is not notifying me that "New Updates are Available." I never set to install them automatically, I like to know what's going on and choose how to use my connection and processing power, but the notification...

    windows 8.1 vs ubuntu 14.04

With help from here and Google, I'm now hardly aware I'm using an 8/8.1 machine. I couldn't tell you when I last used the Metro screen, but I understand your worry about the way Windows is going - all but ignoring non-hand-held device users. 8.1 is not the big update it pretended to be (all it...

Windows Movie maker 6 (Vista) Onto an 8.1 Laptop?

Right - I bit the bullet and downloaded Blaine's programme from here: Blaine's Movie Maker Blog: Installing Windows Movie Maker 6.0 on Windows 7 or 8 and it worked fine. I shall do some security scans tonight to make sure all is safe -...

Windows Movie maker 6 (Vista) Onto an 8.1 Laptop?

OK - I've done it but it hasn't worked. The program is there and it loads, but I can't import AVIs and edit them. The dlls didn't seem to work when I installed them, so I suspect that's the problem.

Hi, Here's the link Windows Movie Maker 6.0 - Install on Windows 7 - Windows 7 Help Forums Okay... unless someone posts saying it'll self-destruct my machine in 5 seconds, I'll do a restore point, bite the bullet and have a go.

Windows Movie maker 6 (Vista) Onto an 8.1 Laptop?

Hello again. When I got my Windows 7 laptop, I installed WMM 6 from my old Vista machine because the W7 version is all but useless. So, I would really like, nay, NEED to do the same now I've got a Windows 8 laptop. I'm hoping this is possible. I still have the files from my Vista laptop and...
