yeah I'd be real interesed in what this "expert" has to say for himself, after telling people that this was going to be "the driver"

Tell him I'm still waiting for it to show up in the driver download page as he said also!.

So anyway I guess this one is still about as close as you'll get for the dv6/dv7 models. or try the w7 compatable mode to install the W7 driver in W8, which some say also seems to work for some.

It's like I was telling you guys...this whole Windows 8 support thing is borderline _____ (substitute your own word here).

From my perspective, HP needs to support whatever hardware that is out there on the market, with whatever technology they have sold. Similarly, unless Microsoft lists my hardware as not compatible, then I should have FULL support for it.

Here are the cards for SP59850, please check your FULL Hardware ID against this list to determine compatibility with SP59850:

I'm downloading (as this claims it supports my card); I'll post the list of cards supported from the INF shortly.

"%AMD6740.7%" = ati2mtag_Vancouver_PXAI, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6740&SUBSYS_185E103C

So I assume the 7 = 76xx cards, and it has my subsys numbers 185103C, so what ya think?? would it be a shot?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

However, since its not listed on my driver download page it means it hasn't been certified by HP to work for my model, so I don't know how the Intel part would act even if the Radeon works.

@HOODY

If you're going wait until HP puts this driver on your Pavilion 6C00 page, then by all means. According to the driver INF file, your card is fully supported by SP59850, which is what HP said as well.

Care to post a link to it?

4th post down, by Chaand:
"I guess your card will get an updated drivers for windows 8 ... hence you won't be waiting for long"

And I misread the date on the AMD driver...it was Feb 29, not Nov.

For now SPSP59850 it's works, but I just installed them. "switchable option" <-- by clicking on the right mouse button on the dektop is working only under fixed mode and... is this normal? I thought it should be set on "dynamic" or am I wrong?

Re: [Drivers] HP dv6-4XXX / dv6-6XXX / dv7-5XXX / dv7-6XXX / ENVY 14-2XXX / ENVY 17-2XXX (INTEL)
Upon looking at SP59850, the Softpaq only supports some of the notebooks in this thread. Namely:

  • HP Pavilion dv6-60XX / dv6-61XX series
  • HP Pavilion dv7-60XX / dv7-61XX series

And...well, that's it. Furthermore, the Intel driver components found in this Softpaq are older than what the current release on the first post offers.

SP59147 (current HP release):
9.000.0.0000 (AMD Graphics)
9.17.10.2843 (Intel Switchable Graphics)
8.0.0.8808 (AMD HDMI Audio)

SP59850:
9.000.0.0000 (AMD Graphics)
9.17.10.2817 (Intel Switchable Graphics)
8.0.0.8808 (AMD HDMI Audio)

also this from another poster
------------

The components from the softpaq sp59850 are infact identical to softpaq sp58788. The only difference is the cva file

Re: [Drivers] HP dv6-4XXX / dv6-6XXX / dv7-5XXX / dv7-6XXX / ENVY 14-2XXX / ENVY 17-2XXX (INTEL)
Upon looking at SP59850, the Softpaq only supports some of the notebooks in this thread. Namely:

  • HP Pavilion dv6-60XX / dv6-61XX series
  • HP Pavilion dv7-60XX / dv7-61XX series

And...well, that's it. Furthermore, the Intel driver components found in this Softpaq are older than what the current release on the first post offers.

SP59147 (current HP release):
9.000.0.0000 (AMD Graphics)
9.17.10.2843 (Intel Switchable Graphics)
8.0.0.8808 (AMD HDMI Audio)

SP59850:
9.000.0.0000 (AMD Graphics)
9.17.10.2817 (Intel Switchable Graphics)
8.0.0.8808 (AMD HDMI Audio)

also this from another poster
------------

The components from the softpaq sp59850 are infact identical to softpaq sp58788. The only difference is the cva file

hoody, Wes from HP forum answer me, take a look. i also asked him about the partitions because i rememberd you were concerned about it:

You're still waiting for the video driver. I've got an email to my driver contact about sp59850 and why it doesn't support the models I was told it would. As for the partitions, you can do an in-place upgrade and won't need to worry about those. Or you can do a clean-install and wipe them out. the instructions are available here: Upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8 | HP® Support.

OK I don't quite understand what He (wes) told you Did he end up saying what? That it IS a workable driver?

cause I also got a message from him saying he was checking with his driver contact, and to "hang on" what ever that means.
