    So, add boot to desktop.

Super easy way to make Shutdown on desktop :
    New Shortcut / Target - "%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s -f -t 00"
Ad appropriate icon and you have it.
    For Hybrid Shutdown :
    %windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s -hybrid -f -t 00
    For Restart :
    %windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -R -F -T 00
Those ones could be pinned to taskbar too, also on Start menu. Why MS didn't do that ???

Did that long ago, put them in my Desktop folder. I just Pin to taskbar and pin to start from there on a clean install. I have shortcuts for Single Monitor Only and Extend in there too. I agree, Why MS didn't do that ???

Why MS didn't do that ?
Sorry, I don't get it (please forgive me )

After installing 8 for the first time, my mouse flew around the screen and bumped into the charms seconds after arrival to the original default start screen and I instinctively clicked on settings, and there it was.
I am that so called Pro Users had to Google to find it.

And this is on the desktop also

That's the original one, ever since Alpha version and that's the one people complain about. As you can see, there's more ways they could have made it more obvious and easier to access.

Why all this talk of a power button? If you turn your computer on with a physical power button (switch), why can't you turn it off that way?

Hello HG. I mentioned it as being easier to get to (for most) than creating a virtual machine as suggested by J for installing older systems or systems in a virtual machine (for compatibility).
I never thought the off thingy was hidden or unintuitive

But having said that, it depends on ones power button configuration and the location of the PC. If using a laptop, I guess just close the lid. If your tower is buried somewhere, it might be a little difficult to press a physical button. My 50lb PC box power button is set to sleep, so the only way to shut down is the software button.
My system sleeps all day. I need a rest from posting.

I'd like to see Metro Apps remember what monitor they were last opened on and what screen size they were last used at, and open to those on launch instead of full screen.
I'd like an option to disable the Start Screen auto arrange so the tiles don't have to be 2 plus 2 etc. Let me arrange them like you do Icons on your Desktop.
I'd like to be able to span the Metro Start Screen across multiple monitors.
I'd like to be able to change the Tiles background color.
The ability to roll back from an "Upgrade Features" if you can't activate or have other issues after going to Pro or Pro+MC.
Do not automatically create a Homegroup during install, or at least give a yes or no option.
An actual Shutdown tile would be nice. And a tile for the Desktop version of IE.
The ability to easily download install media/ISO file without having to jump though hoops or resort to trickery.
    Excellent list, Kerry.

Hopefully all or at least most in 8.2. First and foremost > The ISOs!

I posted that I would like to see a shutdown tile on the Start Screen and that started a side topic. I suffer from chronic pain, neck shoulders and lower back. I'd rather not reach down to press the power button on my tower if I can help it. A tile would be a one click deal versus the hunt and peck to do it from the charms bar. A shutdown tile just seems to me to be at least one tile that would be useful, that's all.

My keyboard has a shutdown button and most MM ones have it too. With some dismay I must conclude that there's more ways to shut down computer than to start it and yet, so many people complain that it is most difficult task.
