Windows 8.1 refuses to sleep

I have moved to Win10 and everything was working fine for a couple of weeks, up until a few days ago - my computer stopped sleeping reliably. There were a handful of things that happened around the time the problem cropped back up, including several Windows Updates. The one difference with Win10 vs Win8.1 and this blasted problem, though, is I had the problem from a fresh install with Win8.1 - not so with Win10.

I'm currently working on a hypothesis that looks promising. It appears Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (version 2015.009.20069) may have been the culprit for me, though I need to do further testing to be sure.

With this thought, I wondered if for some strange reason Adobe Acrobat Reader might be involved with some of the sleep problems reported in this thread? Could someone still having issues in Win8.1 (and especially if they're using a MS account to log in, seeing as switching to a local account in Win8.1 is what solved my sleep issue in Win8.1) try uninstalling Adobe Acrobat Reader and do some testing to see if that solves their problem? I realize it's a long shot, but maybe? ...

Disregard the above. It was just another one of those "solutions" this thread is full of which seemed to work after a lot of initial testing but was proven wrong after extensive testing. (At least on my Win10-64 machine.) Uninstalling Adobe Acrobat Reader was not a solution.

NO DUDE!!!! It's not dead. I don't have 10.... at this point, I don't want it and have reverted back to 8.1

Having said that.... I have had the non-sleep issue for months. I tried just about everything and also, I don't use Homegroups etc so that wasn't causing my issue. I tried so many fixes I got totally confused as to what I had tried and hadn't.
When I came across this thread I noted post #39 (here) on page 4 and saw the "Advanced Settings" I noticed the "Restore Plan Defaults".... Well, I clicked that and my sleep issue seems to be resolved.

It really goes to show that even browsing older posts can help at times.

    Thanks for everyone's input.

R.I.P. this thread! lol My PCs sleep just fine with Windows 10. At this point, I truly don't understand why people are going back to 8.1. Merry Christmas everyone! :P

    Nope, not for me.

Brand new computer with Windows 10. Out of the box it will not sleep. I get the same srvnet request as I get on my Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 computers. Related to my network I assume. Setting a process request override for srvnet allows the Win 10 computer to sleep. Same thing I had to do with my other computers. I assume I will also have to set an override for chrome.exe and maybe one or two other processes as I needed to do for both my Win 7 and 8.1 machines in order to get them to sleep reliably.

So at least in my case the sleep problem was not solved in Win 10. In fact the exact same issue exists in Win 7, 8.1 and 10. And thankfully it is easily solvable for me.
