As many people have griped about it, surely this issue will be fixed in Windows 9.0.

If not, light the torches & get the pitch forks & march {at night in a thunder storm} on the castle in Redmond.

Well, you're covered as the updates did not fix my sleep problems (big surprise - not).

Since switching to a local account my laptop with 8.1 has slept more reliably, but still not 100%. Lately it has not slept more than it has slept. I decided to dig a little deeper.

Running powercfg -requests there was DRIVER \FileSystem\srvnet. Aha. The dreaded srvnet. Yes I have my computer in a Homegroup.

Googling I found that you can override requests. So I did. At the Command Prompt (elevated) I typed powercfg -requestsoverride DRIVER \FileSystem\srvnet SYSTEM. And it took. When I run powercgf -requestsoverride it lists \FileSystem\srvnet under DRIVER.

Yet the computer still doesn't sleep. I have to assume it is overriding the request but still no sleep. Frustrated.

I think that command needs to be entered without the \FileSystem\

Enter this command and see if it sleeps:

    powercfg -requestsoverride DRIVER srvnet SYSTEM
