yep, same with me. As usual, my computer slept for a while but then... didn't. Back to using Standby Helper, which is working great.
I'm having some issues with the SH wake timer. It seems that the minutes to sleep are very understated. Still trying to determine what one minute actually equates to. Seems like it may be 2-3x. Should be able to nail it down pretty soon.

The timer has been pretty accurate for me but I have noticed that at times task scheduler will kick off several tasks during idle and that it can delay sleep if you have the timer set at a short interval. I discovered this by creating a task schedule log via Powershell that showed the last run time of all tasks.

Make sure to have FORCE SLEEP box checked. That helped to make SH work more reliably. I also have Win8 sleep and SH sleep both set to with 5 minutes of each other as I feel that they complement each other to brute force the computer to sleep. It still takes 2-3 minutes for the computer to sleep after the idle time is reached, part of the symptoms of this whole sleep problem.

And why would that surprise you? MS addressed the sleep issue with update KB2919394. If your PC doesnít sleep then something else is wrong with it. I advise to start a thread dedicated to your individual situation.

A Microsoft PR person couldn't have said it better. You should at least ask for a commission when you drop lines like this.

I'm sure everyone on this thread feels exactly the way you do about Microsoft. Might as well throw Google and Facebook in there also.

Hipsie, I apologize for taking your posts too personally. I received a notice from the staff about it. I will go and edit out as many of the disparaging posts about you and others that I can find. Thank you for pointing a few of them out.

Standby helper didn't work for me, I tried various suggested settings but no luck. I have been following this thread for over a year and nothing has worked and I have tried everything here and elsewhere. But, I finally found a fix for my PC and it is rock solid and I've tested it repeatedly for over a week. It works without fail and nothing else has in the past. I think it was suggested earlier in this thread, perhaps a few months ago and it was the one thing I didn't try. I put powercfg /requestsoverride DRIVER srvnet System, into an administrative command line and wow, instant gratification. I hadnít tried this because when I have requested an energy report, I never saw problems so I never tried this command.

I have no idea how many hours I have spent trying to fix this insomnia. Please try this if you havenít already. It may be the solution for you too.

Bouldernet, good enough! AJM mentioned in one of the psot mentioned below to remove the System at the end of the string (I donno why, too complicated for me)

One of the reasons why I continually post to the thread is that I seem to be a repository for things that we have tried, heh.

This Powercfg workaround was explained very well on posts 236, 240, and 241 by ajm here:

    Windows 8.1 refuses to sleep

we fooled with this. Unfortunately, fooling with powercfg by me disabled all of the advanced power settings and I could not change when the computer slept. That was unacceptable to me. Let us know what adverse effects it has on your machine.

There's nothing wrong with my PC. It was a brand new machine with nothing but updates and it wouldn't sleep. Or to be specific it does sleep after a reboot and then it doesn't after a while.

I see many people have had issues with you and your posts and I can see why. Your statement was pretty rude. Way to be part of a community and basically tell people that they are idiots because they have a problem thats reported all over the internet and on every Windows 8 board.

I haven't posted here in a while, mostly because my problems seemed to be solved.

Although... I did notice something strange about the sleep habits of my PC.

In the early morning, it wakes up as it should and goes back to sleep when it is done with its chores. When I work on the PC when it woke up on its own, and I go away, it falls to sleep as planned.

But here it is. When I wake the PC by touching my keyboard, or pressing the power button when the PC was already hibernating. In both cases, the PC doesn't go to sleep again until past midnight. I can put it to sleep or hibernate on my own, and then the normal sleep cycle is back on duty.

So, the problem isn't completely fixed, but it seems like when I disturbe its sleep, it doesn't want to go back to sleep until past midnight. But if the PC wakes up on its own, it goes back to sleep after it, or I, are done doing whatever we needed to do.

So, there could be a problem in the handling of a forced wake-up by Windows. It's maybe something you guys could keep an eye on with your own systems. If it goes back to sleep after it woke-up on its own, or doesn't go back to sleep, after you woke it up.

That's the only thing I noticed during the past few weeks. And the big update of last week didn't change anything in the part of code concerning Sleep/Hibernate.

I don't have a problem with this though, because I have developed the habit of putting my own PC to sleep when I know I don't need it anymore for the rest of the day. And doing it like this, makes my PC wake up and go back to sleep on its own when needed. So, I never get up in the morning with a PC that's still sitting there, waiting for some input.
