Well I've been putting this off too long, and now my main hard drive (SSD) has stopped working for some reason. I cannot reinstall windows on it nor can I restore an Acronis restore as Acronis doesn't see the drive either

So it's time for this to go into get repaired for a few things. Hopefully all will be resolved after it gets back from Memory Express.

Do you see the SSD in the boot options?

No unfortunately I didn't. I saw only my other 2 HDDs as options to install to or reformat, so I figured it must be something serious with regard to my SSD.

marking as solved! turns out it was a lot more simple than i expected - i should have taken it in to have it checked out earlier, rather than mess around and worry. it was a power issue, but it was the SSD. the company i bought it from simply replaced it and formatted my SSD and mirrored my data from the old drive to the new one, and everything is working perfect now! thanks to everyone for the tips and information.

Hi all, I've read through the responses for this same issue related to Windows 7 but am not familiar enough with Windows 8 to know if the same fixes would apply. I got my new ASUS laptop on Mother's Day this year, and the first event happened a week later. I've had this same event happen 6...
