Windows 8 Enterprise RTM Free Evaluation available for anyone

It looks like MS has made a 90 day eval release of Windows 8 Enterprise that you can download and install right now even without a technet or MSDN or other for pay account. (Though you may need to sign up for a live account to get it).

Read more here:
Download Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation

P.s. I have not gone through the process of getting this version, so if there are any hiccoughs, post back here about it.

Now this is a file name!

"9200.16384.WIN8_RTM.120725-1247_X64FRE_ENTERPRISE_EVAL_EN-US-HRM_CENA_X64FREE_EN-US_DV5.iso"

I actually did do the download. Though I have a technet account, this actually seems like it may be even more useful in some ways, a true eval, no key required (supposedly), just install and test.

Ahhh. What to do, what to do.. I'm triple booting 7/8P/8E, but downloading the eval out of curiosity, and to add the ISO to my Windows 8 collection. Is quad booting possible?? I seem to remember having problems with it in the past.

Right.. It's a true eval... works fully for 90 days then BAM.

Would be nice if they did this for all future software but of course the real reason they are putting this out there is to get people to quickly fill the app store with "apps" by providing free tools...

At least this may stop people from torrenting suspecious isos off the net and demanding MSDN/Technet keys etc if they just want a look at it before release.

The 64bit finished downloading fast here and came in at 3.25gb in size for the iso. The first look will be on VBox to see how that goes for the initial lookover before planning any full install to the second HD here.

Installed it on my backup PC. Went to the App store to install Slacker Radio but its not listed. Looks like some Apps are filtered out if you are running the Enterprise Edition. I did a Google search for that App and then clicked the "View In Windows Store" link and go a "Not available for your PC" message. That may not be the exact wording but it was something like that. :( This sucks. This could be a very short lived install.

That would be strange and disturbing (But so is WIndows 8).

Is it possible that the link was to an RT version of the software instead?

Can you find the app directly by searching in the app store itself?

On this PC which is running the RP, Slacker Radio shows up in the App store under Music and Video. On my other PC with Enterprise Trial it doesn't show up. I just did a search on that PC and it shows it in the results, but when you click it I get that same "This app is not available for your PC" message. I previously had the RP installed on that PC and Slacker radio installed and ran then.

Want to know why Slacker Radio wouldn't be available for the note "Developer" version of Enterprise? It's a developer's version not intended for general use to start with! The build is strictly intended for use by IT developers not the consumer. The DP, CP, and RP builds are intended for the general preview.

A guess or you know this for sure? If you can't install an App how are you going to test that it works? The blurb on the download page says it for developers, I didn't see where it specifically said it was a special developer edition. My guess is its because this App uses up bandwidth and may impact productivity. I'm not saying your wrong, it just doesn't make any sense to me. There were a bunch of Apps installed by default along with the App Store App? Unfortunately, Slacker Radio was the only App I tried to download and install, and I've since replaced the Ent trial with Windows 7 on that PC. I can't try any other apps at this time.

My guess is the Download manager helps when there is a high volume of people all trying to get it at once. They get less failed downloads and thus less complaints.
