just a question: everybody around here seems to be using the .iso download. why exactly?
is there a disadvantage in using the setup provided by microsoft?

You need to have a machine up and running already (windows installed) to install from the setup. Many people are using the iso for VMs, or cold boot etc.

ok thanks.
i'm not very familiar with the technical details behind windows 8, is it recomendable to install windows 8 to replace my current windows7 (thinkpad t410, windows 7 64 bit)? or will there be some (severe) problems with using currently installed programs?
