Windows 8.1 Update 1 ISOs Also Coming

Windows 8.1 Update 1 is almost here, but Microsoft has done a terrific job keeping official details secret, even though we still got our hands on leaked copies of the new product.

And still, even though Microsoft has refused to provide too many details on what’s to come in Windows 8.1 Update 1, Twitter user BAV0 has come across some new documentation on the update that seems to suggest that full ISOs are also being prepared.

I had to do the gpedt in this, How to Enable and Use Internet Explorer 11?s Enterprise Mode to get the Enterprise Mode option to show up in the tools menu in IE. I don't know if that is SOP or not as I'm running the leaked update 1. This is a FYI post.

Yeah Enterprise is a stand alone version for companies. Its Pro with some extra features. One of the perks that comes with a Microsoft MVP is a free complimentary MSDN subscription. I got MSDN and TechNet my first year, but TechNet is being discontinued. Anyway with MSDN I get access to the ISO's and product keys to install the software for evaluation. I can get product codes for Core, Pro and Enterprise. Enterprise has the option to create a Windows To Go drive. It's a bootable thumb drive or USB external hard drive that you can boot to on any PC and run Windows 8 or 8.1 Enterprise from. I plug my thumb drive into a PC and boot from it and I'm running 8.1 Enterprise already setup for me just like I was running it from my own PC. my first year(2009) of the mvp program we got 10 keys on TechNet and msdn ,then msdn changed to 5 keys ,now its only 3 keys, you only get the keys the one year[the keys I gotthey are still usable ] ,or when new OS come out

Just to clarify things, you don't have to be running the Enterprise version of 8.1 to get the IE Enterprise mode. I did the gpedit on my 8.1 Pro desktop and got Enterprise mode. It's part of update 1.

For me (last year) it was 3 on TechNet and 5 on MSDN. I could only get Pro keys on TechNet, but Core and Pro on MSDN. Yeah, you don't get a new set of keys every year. You'll get new keys when a new version of said software comes out though.

Jesus loves to be dusted. The feathers tickle him. Sounds like honest work to me, but I know what you're saying. The planet is in a financial pickle, $200 might be an investment for some, for others its necessities for the family and general living. The difference between wants and needs are more obvious to some than others.

Yeah, I'm on a disability income so money is tight. What little PC money I get is usually spent on hardware, aside from games that is. I'd still be running Windows 7 on my desktop PC's if I didn't have my free MSDN subscription. Our laptops came with 8 so it wouldn't be all that hard to go to 8.1 on those. I'd have to jump though a few hoops but it would be doable. With my MSDN 8.1 keys and ISO's a clean install is easy peasy. Thank you

Like Genet said its a 4 gig thumb drive but the formatted capacity is less than that. The new ISO is just to big to fit on it. I have a portable Linux on a 128GB flash drive. I can rescue up to 100GB of data from a system where the OS went belly up. Plus it is a beautiful system to work with. Very fast for the internet and I use a few nifty Linux programs for e.g. video editing, etc. Since I have access to every partition that's installed on the PC, I can move the data back and forth and between.

Converting install.wim to ESD saves you 877 MB
