When you get to be a monopoly, the customer better d*mn well take what you dish out and they'd better like it, or else.
Yeah, cause people don't have choices, they just refuse to make those choices,,
oh that's right, those other choices suck worse.
MS is not a monopoly.
M$ thinks they have a monopoly but they better get back in touch with the user.
[h=1]Android alters all: Now the PC?[/h] The new PC may be a laptop running Android. Far-fetched? Not if HP is doing it.

If my laptop stops running Windows, it won't be to switch to Android.
No, it'll be one of the less cloud-oriented versions of Linux. So far I've been quite impressed with Mint Cinnamon, although it's only in a VM and I haven't done too much 'serious' stuff with it at this stage.
Quite seriously, the only 'improvement' in 8.1 that got my interest was the small tiles. The rest is mainly irrelevant flufff I'd bypass/work around or ignore. Some, like the stuffing-up of File Explorer with the inclusion of Skydrive, but demotion or removal of Libraries are totally unwanted. That's one I'd definitely want a 3rd-party fix for.
I've no desire to spend all that time working-around and fixing the
same issues and more in 8.1 as I did with 8, when it appears that there have been no improvements on the desktop side at all, but rather more depreciation and demotion.
No, I'm happy now with 8 the way I have it. 8.1 appears to offer me very little, if any, reason to bother with it at this time and their continuing disregard for traditional users really is becoming a bit too much. Now, unlike some, I don't come onto the forum and bag 8 for no reason, and I'm not going to start now with 8.1. A bit of consideration for the desktop users (and no, we're not going to go away) and I'd be doing the 'Hokie Cokie' (sorry, CR), but at this stage, no. Sorry.
At this stage, I'll stick with my W8 Pro w/Media Centre.
Wenda.
