Who said anything about having knowledge about OSes? A completely irrelevant issue. I pointed out that a very experienced Windows user is not using Windows 8 as Microsoft apparently intended and has modified his working methods because of that, especially by reverting to keyboard shortcuts.

In case you missed the point, which I think you have, the article was about Windows 8. Why is it so difficult for some to stay on topic?

It doesn't matter what the (fill in the blank) is about learning. I think the so called experienced Windows user that does not wish to use 8 as it was designed is basically unable to learn. To learn is to acquire skills. Metro blocking is a hack of the OS. It's a shame that so many cannot adapt. It's like they are rebellious children. I don't buy the arguments against the metro UI. Keyboard shortcuts have existed for a long time and have been enhanced in Windows 8. A new OS requires learning how to make it work properly. These metro blocking start menus are training wheels for those that cannot get along without it. If you think you can, get rid of the orb. It's too difficult or an annoyance without it, right? I haven't missed any point. Operating Systems will always have their detractors.

Like I said, I don't buy the arguments against the metro UI. There is no conceivable circumstance during normal operations in which I would characterize going to the apps area or start screen to launch something a pain.

That much I agree with and have previously stated. It's fine to not like Windows 8 but as has been stated months ago in other threads, if one does not like it, that doesn't mean it is ineffective, inefficient, or just a junky system. One's point of view might be just that, but that does not make it so.

Here is a postings I just saw on the sevenforums.

They had it coming, I don't think many people expected it to do well either.

It's just a weird idea anyhow. After Vista flopped they kinda un-****ed themselves and put out Win 7, but 8 on the otherhand isn't vastly different (like XP > Vista) so it's more like "Windows 7: Retard edition". Other than the fact that it might look pretty on an All-in-One PC, it seems like a rather unnecessary addition to the line of Window's OS's.
