After a very harsh start to using Windows 8, which turned out to be a memory issue, and not an intrinsic problem with windows 8, I am very impressed with everything BUT the metro interface. I spent $5 on Start 8, and am now pretty much satisfied. I have been using Windows a long time. I thought 98 was OK, XP was a lot better, Vista was so so, Windows 7 was great, and Windows 8 may turn out to be even better, especially since I saw the hand writing on the wall about the metro interface and put Start 8 on in about 15 minutes after I booted up Windows 8. (first I had to figure out the new interface so I could download a trial copy of Start 8)

I was exactly the same, I installed the preview twice but deleted it through frustration within 30 minutes but now I've bit the bullet and installed it properly and love it. I couldn't live without a start button which makes it much more usable and gives you the choice!!

Dont hate Windows 8 cause at the end of the day or year, you ll definitely end up using.
I pity the ignorance of ones who haven't used it.

I like it and have no issue what so ever....I go back to the comadore 64 days....I have a 5.25 disk framed on my wall for a conversation peice....And even remember the copy/*.* comand.

So when it comes to windows 8 I take it as a step foward and back.Some things I like and some I dont.All the programs I have used with 7 work in 8 so no problems there.I missed areo but now I dont.....I just came off of a 13.5hrs work nite and though Id just chime in so to speak after reading this post.

You all have great inputs and all make sence.

Another old C64 jockey! Good one. I still have mine, and a lot of tape software, but most of the
disks died long ago. It runs (ran, the disk died) GEOS on two 1541 Mk 2's, one for the OS and
one for programs. It also has a 'Freeze Machine II' cartridge fitted.

They were the days.
