PC freezes after idle/sometimes in games

From the beginning it seemed after adding a driver for your router is when this issue happened. Ever try to uninstall this software driver ?
Then see if issue went away, as this issue can happen from conflicts or incompatibility from software and drivers. As if you have recently installed an app or driver and find that Windows is now hanging randomly, try removing the recently installed software

This can be a hardware issue, faulty, conflict with hardware drivers. As told before had to go through step by step as linked way before on an article find the culprit.

Can try a clean boot which will disable all else except Microsoft services, this is one way, then you know if it is any drivers or servicess from added hardware or software. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

Can test some hardware, use Furmark to benchmark the video card only run it about 15 min. FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net

Chances may need reinstall windows, but if putting all the same software, drivers and hardware back on this might not tell you what may have caused it, if it is not the OS.

Again posted before as some of main reasons here, have you tried all, as i find i am re-listing them again in my talk here. Windows freezes or stops responding.

I had the problem long before I changed any drivers for my adapter, and when I did update it I had thought that it made a difference regarding the freezes but I was mistaken, and yes I've tried uninstalling those specific drivers and still no luck. Also, I've tried the whole clean boot process already, but I have a question about it. Should I leave it in "clean boot mode" for a while to see if I get a lockup? Because when I tried a clean boot I just followed the instructions then I went back to normal booting after it restarted. So should I leave it in clean boot for a bit? Also, will that inhibit my ability to run programs like games, chrome, etc?

Yes, should leave in clean boot for awhile to see if the issue happens, short period of time not going tell you much unless a problem was more consistent. I know can not do much, do what you can, if going to freeze it will eventually. Alright was not sure if came about aftr those said drivers. How long of a time has this been happening before came here ?

Basically saying only happens when using games and chrome to figure you need to test that to make sure ? Chrome i am not familiar with as i never tried it, but saw some issues with it. Having a lot of resources running can also cause hangs and freezes too.

Hi! Sorry it's been so long, I've been trying stuff and I finally got that error to appear when I try to open a program while the lockup is imminent.

The error says:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.

So this may or may not help, please tell me it gives SOME sort of insight XD

Where did this error come up from on screen, in event viewer, any error code ? Hard to feel this is the only problem for issues of freezing up and locking up. Skype from Metro apps or installed skype ?

First off, the error isn't specific to skype. It's just an example of what comes up when I try to launch anything when the freeze is about to happen, in this case skype.

To answer your question it's installed skype, I didn't use any apps or anything.

Also the error popped up when I clicked to launch skype, it wasn't in the event viewer though I haven't checked it. What does the error mean?

Not sure this is location of execution file not an error, C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe
Any other message on the screen, like not responding to that file, stop responding..with this file as cause.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Skype ?

Skype works fine normally, it's just that no matter what program I try to run when a freeze is about to happen, I get an error similar to that. Skype itself isn't the problem, I just thought that that error might be useful since it will happen regardless of what program I try to open when a freeze is about to happen, just using the specific program's name instead of skype.

Need to start from reading back on entire post, because have not checked all on this system, as many reasons for this to happen you know. Can not go ahead and skip everything else mentioned to try. Freezes and lock ups can be due to hardware failure, software conflicts, outdated hardware drivers, conflicting drivers, outdated system drivers.

Someone gave me this once before for issue i had, you can try it, just follow it exactly, run Memory diagnostics for RAM test, Hard Drive Diagnostics, Video Card Diagnostics and Chipset diagnostics. Test hardware for failure. Least rule those out.
Reinstall OS might not solve the issues.
