PC freezes after idle/sometimes in games

Sorry for the mixup, I didn't change the PSU or anything and the one I have is the 650w one, I only listed the 550w by mistake.

There's been issues with my kind of card before, you say? That's great ;~; though at least I could look around and try to update those drivers and see what happens.

Why did you state people had issues with Corsair AX860i and you felt you did and this was cause of your issue if you do not even have this PSU, am i correct ? Yes been some issues around from drivers for AMD Radeon believe also will get error messages from certain .sys files part of the AMD Driver.

Oh wait, sorry XD It seems I didn't properly do my research. I didn't realize my PSU was not one of the ones affected by the issue. A streamer told me that the issue explained in that link was likely the cause of my issue, and I guess I didn't check hard enough to see if my PSU in particular was listed. So I guess that's out of the question then.

I assume so, making it confusing to help you if proper info is not given. So which PSU do you have, is it one listed here in your specs, best to update it here and in the posts as this helps with all aspects of your issues for us.

I get no errors or BSOD at all, it just locks up where it is and I can't even move the mouse after a few seconds. I'll check out that link and see if any good comes of it.

Edit: Wait no, sometimes there is an error if I can try to open a program or something after the lockup is "imminent." I don't know what it was, but next time it happens I'll post it here.

Check your Event Viewer find it when right click the windows start button open it and select folder Custom Views open that and highlight Administrative events, look down list for any red errors. Many reasons as listed in that article can cause this. If no error messages from AMD card may not be that, but model is known to have issues with it's drivers.

Latest AMD which is never updated enough Desktop

Malware can be a cause too, even if you feel because having 1 Anti-Virus program keeps you completely safe.
Try this with a scan Malwarebytes
Try to also check your temps with this program, since building yourself you did apply thermal paste on processor. sometimes not done correct cause heat issues or even proper ventilation throughout the case. HWMONITOR | Softwares | CPUID

I've already done multiple scans with Malwarebytes, as well as many other antivirus programs, even that Microsoft one that they always suggest on their forums. As far as temperature, I recall yesterday when I was looking around the BIOS settings it said the temp was about 35 degrees Celsius, though I could be off by a few degrees. Also I did apply thermal paste when installing the CPU.

I'm looking around the event viewer and I can't seem to find anything related to what I think I saw when the lockups happened, so next time it happens I'll look again with hopefully better results. For now, I'll see about updating my GPU's drivers.

Edit: Yeah, I installed that monitoring program you linked and my temperature seems to fluctuate from 30-40 celsius. It that high for someone who isn't overclocking?

Overclocking, this i did not know although not familiar with doing overclocks and effects can have on a system. 30-40c is o.k., know what the CPU Package temps are ? Asked because overheating is one cause of freezes, since custom build and saying from beginning about certain knowledge you do not have made me question some of this. Also malware can cause feezes and lockups, glad you are clean.

I'm not overclocking, so I don't think temperature is the issue though maybe inadequate cooling could be causing a high temperature? Either way, 30-40c does not seem to be a fatal temperature so the issue at hand is likely something to do with drivers, my card, or something else :3

Sounds about right, said something when playing games and that will heat up system more, but if it was that bad it would shutdown.
Unfortunately a situation like this is a step by step process of finding the culprit as said there is not just one reason this can happen, many reasons.

The thing with the times it locks up when gaming is, that it only ever happens if I launch a game and play for a bit (15mins maybe?) AFTER the PC has been on already for a few hours or so. Even then it's a rare occurrence, so still not too useful ;)

Well then chances that points towards the graphics card, it's drivers and possible system drivers too. Make sure motherboard has all most updated drivers too. Need to look through link i listed way before as the causes of freeze up and lock ups take each step at a time.

Test your RAM try Windows Memory Diagnostic tool find it in all apps screen if show all admin tools or look in control panel under admin tools. Intel has a driver update utility i tried Intel® Driver Update Utility

I updated my AMD drivers with that suite link you posted, and I'll be able to test if the lockups are still happening tonight when I leave it on then try running a game with some friends.

As for that Intel driver update utility, I had some trouble with it in that I couldn't seem to find correct drivers for my machine, and it's auto-detect didn't work for some reason. Either way, I'll wait on that for now because if the issue IS fixed there's no need to change other things. I'll update in a day or two based on if I get a freeze or not.

Scratch that, it just happened again :(

Ok, I checked the event viewer around when this happened, and these are the 2 errors that occurred before it said I restarted with the power button.

1. A TCG Command has returned an error.Desc: AuthenticateSession
Param1: 0x1
Param2: 0x60000001C
Param3: 0x900000006
Param4: 0x0
Status: 0x1

2. Activation of app Microsoft.WindowsAlarms_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App failed with error: Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information.

I don't know about the first one, but the second one seems vaguely familear, like I'd googled something along those lines before in an attempt to fix this. Perhaps it's related? Additionally, I noticed right before the freeze I when I tried to open a new tab chrome said something like, "Aw snap," with that picture of the "frozen folder with a face" or something and I think it said that chrome may have ran out of memory?

So, any of this help us at all?

First error has to do with Device encryption, bitlocker
Windows 8.1 Update - 'A TCG Command has returned an error' - - Microsoft Community

Second error has to do with Metro apps on start screen and permission or corruption.
Apps won't launch after Taking Ownership of WindowsApps folder - Microsoft Community

As i do not believe has anything to do with your freeze ups or lock ups.

Try running System File Checker first at (Admin) command Prompt from start button copy and paste this and press enter

sfc /scannow

Same open command prompt copy paste one at a time and press enter, let all complete, then run SFC again.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Let me know if any files shows it can not fix.

Ok, I did those things. First time I did sfc /scannow, it finished after a bit and I got this:
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired
them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
No component store corruption detected.
The operation completed successfully.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
No component store corruption detected.
The operation completed successfully.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
The restore operation completed successfully. The component store corruption was
repaired.
The operation completed successfully.

So those are the results for those lines. Anything stand out? I believe I've done the sfc scannow thing before and had similar results, but you never know. (Or at least I don't XD )

EDIT: OH WAIT I forgot to sfc scannow again like you said gonna do that again now stay tuned...

Ok I did sfc /scannow again after all those commands did their thing, and got this:
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
