Is your Start Screen the same as your Desktop Background, it appears it may be. If so change the start screen background restart then check again.

I've now ran the windows update so I am all up to date. No changes after the restart. I also tried changing the start screen to not be my desktop background, restarted, and still no large option. I don't think these small adjustments will do it or I would have stumbled upon it already. Any other ideas?

I am using an ASUS Transformer Book TX300CA. There is really nothing out of the ordinary with my start screen, and no matter how I've changed it around it hasn't affected the Desktop tile size options.
Did you go through the tutorial in my first post?
Yes I did, I ran the troubleshooter and went through the other steps - nothing. The only thing I think could work is step 22: 22. Uninstall and Reinstall the App But I cannot find anywhere the availability to reinstall or redownload the desktop tile.

It's definitely the size and resolution of your screen. If I read the specs correctly, it's 11.6 at 1920 x 1080.

While at the Start Screen, try going to the Charms bar, click on the gear and see if you have an option for 'Tiles'. If so, click on it and see if it has the option, 'Show more tiles on the Start Screen'. If so turn it on. You will get more rows on your Start Screen. Hopefully that will trigger the Desktop Tile to allow the larger resize option.

The reason I asked for the snapshot of your complete start screen was to see when you updated to 8.1.1 if the power button was enabled to the start screen. On my ASUS ME400C it was not because its considered a tablet. On tablets and 2 n 1's thats not enabled with the update. I found out this morning when I enabled it by going into the registry now my Tablet does have the 4 options of resizing my tiles.

But why would it only affect my Desktop tile? It doesnt make sense. There are so many other tiles that I can make Large. I tried adding more rows, that's good thinking, but it didn't solve this issue. I really think I need some way to "reinstall" this tile.

Sorry - what is it you enabled in the registry? I have the power button on the start screen since the update and I am pretty sure mine is considered a laptop.

I had to make a new Key. DWORD (32-bit) Launcher_ShowPowerButtonOnStartScreen Value = 1

If your Screen shows the power button its already

The only way to get the new desktop tile is to Refresh and Start Over :(

Then surely there must be something similar that can be done to manually adjust tile sizes!

Nice find, Edwin! :thumb: 10K internet points for you too. I'd rep you, but I need to spread some around first.

Odds would have it that King Tute (Brink) would have a tutorial on it. I swear he knows more about Windows then, well, Microsoft!

This is well worth a try, donnyboy9.

My first in-depth study on the subject other than broken tiles. There seems to be a lot of variables when it comes to tiles. There was a big change with tiles in WP8.1 vs WP8. It now has transparent ones so as to see more of the Start Screen. I would think we will see more of that in Windows 9 or perhaps in upcoming Windows updates.

Screen/monitor size.

Tiles are developer designated, meaning they create the properties of the tile.

Difference of tile’s options of apps vs shortcuts, such as a folder, file, browser, favorites, etc., designating as solid, transparent, picture, size, and the likes.

Apps’ tiles such as undeletable default apps like the Store, Desktop, OneDrive, etc.

All in all, tiles will continue to be perfected since they're a vital part of the new system. A system that shows us important, organizational personal data to us in real time and at a glance. Much better than the old Win32 desktop systems. :)

I hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread somewhat with my thoughts, donnyboy9.
