Read there site Noctua.at - sound-optimised premium components "Designed in Austria"!

What i use only, they are quietest and most efficient case and heatsink fans around. Better bearings and Airflow, even from less RPM's. CoolMaster will be louder, although good CFM rating and higher RPM range, if do not mind noise, sure would be fine, it will never match Noctua. Only a suggestion,Noctua


Last longer good w and outperform one you chose as cool master can be louder look at db ratings on both, better bearings in Noctua. Reasons i suggested it, up to you on one. Google around, NewEgg not only place, but reliable place i know.

Anything by Noctua is good. Forgot to ask if PC motherboard had a 3 pin or 4 pin connector for fans. One i showed you was a 4 pin PWM meaning RPM's controlled by motherboard as temps rise instead of running at same RPM's always. One you bought is not, still good for a case fan. I know they are not the nicest looking fans.

Well if want a good LED other brands besides CoolMaster, i have a Gelid 120mm Blue LED in front of my case, pretty quiet, not as much as my Noctua's.
That is one serious side fan, never saw one so big. Sorry could of used a better view of whole side of case. Is that side fan blowing in or out ?
Make Noctua blow out. Wire management is important too for good air flow, try move some of wires. CPU fan looks small, you said had Coolmaster Hyper 4 ? This one as looks different in pic Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes - Newegg.com

I goofed up on my CPU cooler. I have this one: Cooler Master Vortex Plus - CPU Cooler with Aluminum Fins and 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Side fan is blowing in.

DUH...no wonder I have heat problems. My OEM rear fan died about a year ago and I installed the rear fan wrong. It is blowing IN. I checked it by putting a sheet of paper on the fan on the outside of the rear panel and it sucked in. aaarrrgg!!!

O.k. looks like have opening for a front fan, put one there blowing in if want to. Gonna say did not look like T4, as i looked twice.
Need to try to manage those wires a bit better. That original fan came on heatsink ? Nice Power Supply lot's of power though 750W ! Again PWM manage it better, be quieter at times then non-PWM, of course more important to the CPU which i am sure is one. Good night !

I edited my previous post a lot. Please re-read it. I replaced the CPU cooler a few months ago and that is the fan that came with it. I'm sorry, I'm kind of dense. What is PWM? I think when I get a 120mm fan in the rear, blowing in the right direction, I probably won't need a front fan

I went ahead and bought a Noctua NF-S12A PWM 120mm Fan on eBay. I found a new one for $19.99. I'm sure I can get my money back from the first one. I didn't see the difference until you pointed it out. Thanks. I first made double sure that my motherboard supported a 4 pin fan connector. I also found that It supports the variable speed feature of my Power Supply. My Motherboard is an Asus Sabertooth X58.

I put the rear fan in the correct orientation and put the side panel back on and I am getting better temps. I'm also running Speedfan. The rear fan is now plugged into the motherboard fan control outlet instead of the wire.

Temps are better, some will say could be even better, but less then before. I would make the rear fan blow out of case taking hot air out from CPU, as PSU on top is also drawing out and also drawing out the heat from the PSU.

Rear fan should be with the label facing out towards the back case, usually an arrow on top of some model fans shows the direction of the airflow. Looked at your pic,i missed that too, label facing in.

Can not recall and even looking back at your post, the direction of air flow of side panel fan, does it blow out or in the case ?

So since the way the airflow will be CPU fan blowing into the heatsink and rear fan plus the Power supply will be taking the heat out, it would be a good to put in a front fan blowing air into the case, better air flow and cooling.
One direction of flow, bringing cooler air in, taking the heat out. Try for a higher RPM fan for the front.

Easiest way to tell you about it is PWM can automatically adjust the fans RPM's depending on the temperature, rather then running at set RPM (revolutions per minute), read article and understand it other reasons it is better, but do not have to use it .

See from pictures of your board marked number 2 Fan connectors you have. Looks as though only (2) 4pin connectors, one for CPU_fan and one for CHA_ Fan1. others are 3 pin connectors. So one PWM will have to go on the CHA_Fan1 connector.

Also have this did not know was a software installed or in BIOS more on controlled fan speeds

Your current tiny rear panel fan seems out of place (besides blowing the wrong way). Did you originally install that, or someone else? Clearly your case supports a much larger fans there, maybe even 140mm but not doubt having a 120mm exhausting heated air out will help a lot. You may not need to worry about a different front fan.

Temps are better, some will say could be even better

Some say cooler is always better but that is not true. It is critical to keep the CPU properly cooled, but cooler does not mean better. That is, your CPU running in the 50s will NOT be more stable, perform better, or have a longer life expectancy if you get your temps down into the 40s. As long as your temps are in the CPUs "normal operating range", it will be fine. And your most recent temps are fine (though you still need to watch them since you have just 22% maximum load on it). Hopefully that 120mm will put your temps closer to 50°C.

You cannot always go by fan labels, but most fans will have two arrows molded into their housing, one indicating direction of the air flow, the other the direction of rotation. As long as you maintain a general front-to-back flow, you are good.

The rear fan has labels on both sides and I don't think it has an arrow. But now I have it blowing out. I guessed it wrong when I installed it because I thought the wires would be on the inside. Yes, the PSU fan is blowing out. The CPU fan is blowing toward the CPU and the side fan is blowing in. And, I'm hoping the numbers will be better when I have the 120mm fan installed. I should have realized what PWM meant from my days in Instrumentation and Control systems. I just didn't get the connection.

The 80mm fan on the rear came from the builder. I had it custom built from some internet company. They probably had it installed correctly but when it died, I installed the replacement wrong. I don't know why I didn't install a larger fan at that time. It surely looks "out of place" as you say.

How big is that side fan, never seen one like it ? If want can put one in the front blowing in, give you more ventilation, up to you.

Where did you download this from, if ASUS site did not have it, i would of not recommended elsewhere, sorry. Not great at Virus removal to advise you further, but MBAM is good. What Anti-Virus is on system already? Try Windows Malicious Removal tool also, at run type MRT.EXE run a full scan, not quick one.

No, it wasn't the ASUS site. My fault. I thought I was on the ASUS site so when MBAM tried to block, I foolishly overrode because I thought I was on a safe site. I sent a message to MBAM but they haven't gotten back yet. Thanks for the PM. I'll try that next. At this point the mouse and keyboard are frozen and I don't want to re-boot until I get approval from MBAM. I think there is a way to install their camelion program on a stick and get it to boot from that. I'll let youi know.

Hi jds63, Thanks for your support. All is well on the "fan" machine. The MBAM support forum is awesome. They got me out of trouble in no time. I just had to boot in safe mode and that allowed me to run my MBAM Premium, It found 72 bad files. I downloaded the ASUS fan program from ASUS and it is running but it's not very good. SpeedFan is better. I'll let you know how the 120 fan works out when it arrives. Thanks again. Jim

Glad to hear !! Your welcome, anytime ! No wonder most praise MBAM as even a good Malware software too. You were lucky sometimes much harder to get rid of infections, learned from it this time.
